THE al-Qaeda terror network has warned European nations to pull their troops out of Iraq within a month or face more attacks such as the London bombings, according to an internet statement.
"This message is the final warning to European states," the statement signed by Al-Qaeda group the Brigades Abu Hafs al-Masri, dated July 16, said. "We want to give you a one-month deadline to bring your soldiers out from the land of Mesopotamia (Iraq)."
The authenticity of the statement could not be verified.
Advertisement: After August 15, "there will be no more messages, just actions that will be engraved on the heart of Europe", the statement said.
"It will be a bloody war in the service of God.
"It's a message we are addressing to the crusaders who are still present in Iraq: Denmark, the Netherlands, Britain, Italy and those other countries whose troops continue to criss-cross Iraqi territory.
"These are our last words. The mujahidin, who are on the lookout, will have other words to say in your capitals."
A statement issued in the name of the "Europe Division" of one of the al-Qaeda groups that claimed responsibility for the July 7 bombings on London's public transport system that killed at least 56 people and wounded more than 700.
The group also claimed the 2004 train bombings in Madrid and the 2003 attacks in Istanbul.
Sigh.
I often wish that half the FReepers had half the brains of OBL.
setting placemark.....
Here is another threat from a Zaqawi affiliate in Northern Iraq (probably Krekar's pals) that is making news in Norway today. The "mercenaries" in question are humantarian aid workers... :
The Al-Rudd Brigades Issues Warning to the Governments of the European Countries, Stressing Holland, Denmark and Norway, to Remove Their Mercenaries from Northern Iraq Within Two Weeks
By SITE Institute
July 16, 2005
In a statement posted today, July 16, 2005, to a Zarqawi-affiliated website, a group calling itself al-Rudd (the Responders) Brigades of the Mountain, the Level land, and the Two Rivers, warns the foreigners and the crusaders of European to withdraw their organizations from Arbil, northern Iraq, within two weeks, or the mujahideen will strike all the foreigners and the mercenaries. The message specifies Holland, Denmark and Norway amongst these European countries.
Further, the group alleges that a Dutch citizen of Iraqi descent, who sold his soul and his faith to the occupiers, and worked for Dutch intelligence, was captured. Dutch documents were found on his person that were subsequently translated into Arabic, and Allahs order was issued on him.
Al-Rudd Brigades claims to be fighting the traitors and the converters in northern Iraq, and are accountable for the all the jihad operations executed within this area.
A full translation of the statement is provided to our Intel Service members.

And, barring revisionist historians, IMO our efforts in Iraq will go down in military history as one of the greatest campaigns of all time. We've lured these flea bitten nutcases to the desert of their own homeland to fight our brave military instead of letting them come here to fight our police and civilians. This is nothing short of brilliant, IMHO.
God damn, the smartest thing I heard all day!!
If anyone does find and post this article by Caleb Carr, I would be interested in reading it.
Djathink the Democrats will chide the author of this message for using the word, "crusaders"?
No, but if they like the thought of Mecca staying there...they should quiet down.
Yep, we'll see who's who alright.
So Bagdhad Bob's clone is saying dust off yer resume ?:o)
Yes, gotta watch those aid workers! Actually, there is a Marxist technique called "miserification." This means you want things to get really horrible for people, so that they will blame the folks in charge and turn against them. This has been used in LatAm a lot, where aid workers - foreign or not - are often attacked by Marxist guerrillas. The whole point is to drive them away and make the poor even more miserable and unhappy, and then announce that your silly little terrorist *ss is going to ride to the rescue.
Unfortunately, they use this technique because it works.
(And I'm not even talking about the "aid workers" who actually are mercenaries - on the other side, like the Italian Communist ditzes who were "kidnapped" awhile back.)
It's definitely driving them nuts. I just read that 3 Sunnis who were involved in the Constitutional Convention there were blown away by AQ this morning.
I'll try to get a friend (with a WSJ subscription) to post the Caleb Carr article.
Thanks, I will search for the article also when I get home tonight.
Actually, it's more like Hitler saying "give me the Sudetenland or I'll start a war."
No. It's an attempt to scare the weak sisters away, and drive a wedge between them and us. They probably do have attacks planned against us, but this statement has no bearing on those plans.
And after al Qaeda is given Iraq...?
Dear Al Qaeda,
Please strip all the clothing off of your women while in public...if your refuse to do this we go for Syria or Iran next.
They become the de facto leaders of worldwide Islam. Not that we should worry about terrorists being in charge of a highly excitable billion people....
