Dear Friend,
The attacks from certain members of the Democratic Party against Karl Rove this week have been an absolute disgrace. This is an attempt at personal destruction and political opportunism at its very worst-it is downright shameless.
It has been reported that the liberal extremist group MoveOn.org has been giving the Democratic leadership direction over the last several months. It comes as no surprise that MoveOn.org was the first to call for Karl Rove's resignation this week.
But for members of Congress to take part in this smear campaign, that's an entirely different and truly unfortunate matter altogether. The Democratic leadership even brought the political attack against Mr. Rove to the floor of the United States Senate on Thursday by offering an amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations bill that would strip his security clearance. Strip his security clearance based on what, hearsay? What an absolute sham!
This excerpt from a statement from Mr. Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, should help demonstrate why the Democrats are so completely and utterly off base in their political antics:
"Rove has cooperated completely with the special prosecutor, and he has been repeatedly assured he is not a target of the investigation. Rove has done nothing wrong. We're confident that he will not become a target after the special prosecutor has reviewed all evidence."
Majority Leader Bill Frist summed it up quite well in saying, "this is a sad and disappointing afternoon here in the United States Senate."
Based on the information at their disposal, the Democrats have taken reckless partisan attacks to a new level. The Democratic Party leadership is in disarray and they are desperate-attacking has become their modus operandi. They have personally attacked the President's well qualified judicial nominees. They have attacked every single plan that is put forth to address saving Social Security. Howard Dean personally attacked the Republican Party, saying its members have not worked an honest day in their lives. And the Minority Leader Harry Reid personally attacked the President of the United States by calling him a loser and a liar. The Democratic leadership has guided the Party into an abyss-no new ideas, no agenda, just negativity.
Below are some quotes from Senate Democrats that fully acknowledge the points that I am making and should serve as a reminder why it is so important to support the Republican Majority in the United States Senate.
With warmest best wishes,
Elizabeth Dole
In June 2005, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley (D-IL) Criticized Democrats As The Party Of "No, No, No!" "'All the Democrats [in Congress] say is "No, no, no!"' the mayor said. 'Why can't we have an energy program?' And later, in an almost word-for-word repetition of his 1995 comments, Daley told [Robert Novak]: 'We are a Washington party. We have no farm system. The Republicans do, and we don't.'" (Robert Novak, "Daley Realizes Democrats Need To Lighten Up," Chicago Sun-Times, June 30, 2005)
Stan Greenberg And James Carville: "Democrats Aren't Seen As Standing For Anything." "[T]he biggest problem the Democrats face is not that they're seen as standing for too many liberal issues or standing for too many conservative positions. It's that Democrats aren't seen as standing for anything." (Stan Greenberg and James Carville, "Democrats Must Change Everything," USA Today, April 19, 2005)
Sen. Evan Bayh Admitted The Democrats Have A "Do-Nothing" Problem. "After all, since the Democrats have spent much of the past 30 years talking about saving an endangered Social Security system, how can they now say there is no problem? 'If we become the do-nothing party, we become the default party,' says Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, a 'red state' Democrat. (Gloria Borger, "Meet The New Party Of No," U.S.News & World Report, February 28, 2005)
In February 2005, New Mexico Governor Bill "Richardson Warned That Democrats Need To Be More Than The Party Of Opposition. 'We Cannot Just Be Negative,' He Said. 'We Have Got To Have Some New Ideas.'" (Dan Balz, "Dean Tries On DNC Chairmanship," The Washington Post, February 12, 2005)
Greenberg And Carville: "Democrats Fell Short And Will Continue To Fall Short, As They Are Faltering In The Battle For Ideas, Purpose, Strength, Values And Advocacy." (Stan Greenberg and James Carville, "Toward A Democratic Purpose," Democracy Corps Memo, February 1, 2005)
Greenberg And Carville: "As Voters Compare The Parties, They See A Democratic Party Without Purpose And Defining Ideas; A Party Not At All Strong . . . ." (Stan Greenberg and James Carville, "Toward A Democratic Purpose," Democracy Corps Memo, February 1, 2005)
What the Karl Rove Issue Is Really About:
A whole lot of nothing. Outside of the Beltway, America is yawning with boredom.
I received this today, too. Very interesting.
Greenberg & Carville... which one is Lamb Chop & which one is Shari Lewis ?
One question to freepers who know how a Grand Jury works:
In a Grand Jury investigations can an involved party attends the testimony of another party? Or is it that each involved party is questioned in isolation from any other party? For example can Matt Cooper lawyers attend the testimony of Karl Rove?
Let me know please.
The dims have been caught in the Perfect Rovian Storm. That's right, Karl Rove secretly started all this to further destroy the Democrats!
Those who understand the issue and view it objectively understand that Karl Rove in no way outed anyone. The information the media acquired came directly from the woman's husband who had a vendetta against the White House because the information he acquired in a useless investigation was useless. He was told this and it offended him. He was never sent on orders from the White House or the current administration. He was sent on some wild goose chase directive from the CIA.
Thanks for the post, ftd. I ping the keepers of the NC Ping List, and suggest that they send this out.
I spent a number of years on a federal grand jury. Each witness is questioned in isolation...not even his attorney is allowed to participate.
It is all about innoculating Hillary against fallout from Sandy Burgler. They started calling for Rove to lose his security clearance when Sandy lost his.
"He was sent on some wild goose chase directive from the CIA."
It was no wild goosechase. Wilson came back with exactly what he was tasked to come back with. Which means that the person who sent him, his wife, who was widely regarded as an expert analyst in WMD, had an agenda herself. This agenda would seem to involve influencing domestic politics during the presidential election.
This is the real story, here. It should give everyone pause. It should particularly give folks on the left the willies, but since they actually are the establishment now, I guess they've become big fans of the CIA as well.
Well that's just purely idiotic on the Democrats' part. Berger removed classified documents...Rove did not.
No one is yawning here.
This is momentous.
This will mean whether Republicans have a voice in this country or not.
It is an unprecedented precedent for future mass deportation of the conservative voice to virtual concentration camps.
I think this is what I meant. She knew there was nothing to find, and that there was no reason to send him. She also was well aware that he would give this information to the media when he found out how much of a stooge he was made.
I am not really surprised at how stupid he was in both instances. The person who should be investigated here, as you obviously agree, is the wife.
What this is all about...
The democrats relize what an incredibly dumb thing they did by defending the likes of Clinton. They also relize how their anti-American rhetoric is playing across the nation.
Despite this, the democrats have evidently (already) done their deal with the devil, and refuse to change.
This presents a dilema. What can you offer a nation that recognizes you for what you are, when you're unwilling to change?
There is only one option available to the democrats at this time. That option is to destroy the opposition, so much so that the only team left standing is their own.
This is what the neverending drive to destroy Rove is all about. It's also what the campaign to convince American citizens that George Bush lied, was all about.
The effects on this nation, of Bill Clinton's presidency, cannot be overstated. He and his team positively destroyed the premise of law and order. Criminal activity within the White House eclipsed that of Richard Nixon by 100 to 1.
The only chance that democrats have today, is to convince a majority of Americans that there is no difference between the two major parties in this nation.
To that end, the democrats are doing everything they can with all their might.
It is the reality of this situation that drives me so hard to damn our own side when they do not adhere to the laws of our nation. If tenets of the U.S. Constitution are ignored, no matter if it's far less than what the democrats may have done, it still confirms for people that both parties consider themselves above the law, if it suits them.
I would urge every Republican to let their leaders know in no uncertain terms, that we're playing for keeps here. We not only face exterior terrorists, we face people within our government who would destroy this nation if they could.
One side must adhere to the U.S. Constitution, or we are doomed. This is no laughing matter. All issues play into every issue in this environment.
The story is a bit convoluted and probably beyond the interest level of many Americans.
It took me a couple of days to get the whole story because it was slow in coming from the MSM. And a lot of it is still hearsay.
"She knew there was nothing to find, and that there was no reason to send him."
I don't think she knew anything of the sort. It was an attempt at deflection of other, competing intelligence. Why take the risk? I can only come up with one thing that makes any sense, and that would be another entanglement with the Oil for Food program, which was ended due to the war in Iraq.
