Muslim cleric linked to terror probe to be deported

Lodi -- A Muslim cleric with ties to Lodi men caught up in an FBI terrorism investigation agreed today to be deported along with his son rather than fight government immigration charges.

Mohammad Adil Khan, 47, and his son, Mohammad Hassan Adil, 19, had been accused of overstaying their visas and of coming to the United States under false pretenses.

Both men admitted to visa violations during a court proceeding in San Francisco today. In exchange, the government set aside allegations that Adil Khan lied when he came to the United States and that he had falsely claimed to be working as a Muslim imam in Lodi.

Adil Khan, smiling and appearing jovial as he was led out of the courtroom, has heart problems and wants to go back to Pakistan with his sons, daughter and wife, his attorney Saad Ahmad said.

“My clients are leaving the country,” Ahmad said. “They don’t want to aggravate the situation in Lodi. They have to decided to let this thing pass by.’’

He called his client a moderate who had come to the United States to spread peace, not terror. “I just believe my clients were in the wrong place at the wrong time,’’ he said.

Another Islamic cleric embroiled in the FBI probe, Shabbir Ahmed, is fighting deportation. Federal authorities said little about the deal that allowed the men to leave, other than a statement by San Francisco branch chief counsel Ronald Le Fevre of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

“ICE will not allow foreign nationals to use the United States as a haven for activities that potentially put our nation or other nations at risk,’’ Le Fevre said.

They should have been deported to the nearest cemetery, or barring that, to Gitmo.

Hopefully, this trash dies on the way home. Get them all out of here.

How long will it take for these guys to turn up in Iraq or Afghanistan, shooting at US soldiers? Send 'em to the gallows where they belong!

I think the Lodi situation is especially scary because they now have 6 or 7 that have attended terrorist training camps in Pakistan. Just the same as the ones that carried out the London bombings. Probably wouldn't do anything in Lodi, but would go to San Francisco or Sacramento. SF is two hours away and Sacramento less than an hour.

A terror attack in San Francisco would be ironic indeed.

Why bother? They can just go to the Mexican border and walk back in.

It should become COMMON PRACTICE to determine the immigration/resident status of EVERY individual in America...at every rational opportunity...

Examples: - Opening a Bank Account - Securing a Credit Card - Securing a Driver's License - Boarding a Plane - Checking into a Hotel - Renting a Car - Getting Married - el - Getting any kind of Medical assistance - Applying for any kind of government assistance - Whenever Questioned, Arrested or detained by the Police for ANY manner, etc, etc......

All violators -- placed in custody immediately, pending deportation hearing.

I also believe a Constitutional Ammendment will be necessary to end the unintended citizenship for babies born to illegal immigrants in the country....

That may be exactly why they are leaving without a fight. Scary.

They've no doubt been here long enough to study our customs, infrastructure, way of life, and weaknesses. They will be sent back to their third world hell holes and will be welcomed with open arms and made instructors at some school of terrorism.

I can't believe they deported this guy. What are they thinking? So now he can leave and contribute to al Qaeda's efforts elsewhere, or perhaps even here again?

What kind of sick evil perverted "religion" preaches that the mass-murderers of women and children will be rewarded in paradise with an eternal rape-fest of 72 virgins?

This one.

They hate the West. Why are they here ?

Simple - they are here precisely because they DO hate the West. This is no contradiction. One of the best ways to destroy what you hate is from within--especially when the object of your hatred is stronger than you. So, they come here, infiltrate, grow more numerous and use the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution to incite, spread terror and destroy those very freedoms. Heck, if there are enough of them, our own politicians will even help them do it (Durbin, Conyers, Stark, to name a few).

I often wonder how the Constitution might be different if the Founding Fathers could have witnessed this spectacle.

At least one Senator(Don't remember which) believes the constitution does not need to be changed, that congress has the authority to implement the 14th which was designed to guarantee citizenship for all slaves.
