British police and intelligence officials have launched a nationwide manhunt for a man identified as a likely bomb maker in last week's London attacks, who was seen on a security tape with the four suspected bombers, according to a U.S. official.
"They know who No. 5 is," said the official, who has access to substantial intelligence flowing from the bomb investigation but asked to not be identified.
The man was pictured on a closed-circuit security tape with the four bombers just before they entered London's Underground on July 7 with backpacks the police believe contained bombs. He is British and dark-skinned, apparently of Caribbean descent, the official said.
The bombers, who police believe died in apparent suicide attacks, have been identified as Britons of Pakistani ancestry. The official said the fifth man was involved in the assembly of the bombs, but British authorities do not believe he was the mastermind of the plot.
A video camera in King's Cross Station in North London captured the five men huddling together at about 8:30 on the morning of the bombings. Then, said the official, "The four goons [suicide bombers] went their way, and No. 5 went his."

Bad news guys!!!He has gone fishing to pakistan!!!!!
Let millions of Paki's into the country and this is what we get!
Time to knock the number down by one, though, let's get this guy..
It seems to me that this official's statements qualify as "Loose Lips" (that sink ships) statements for several reasons, and I don't think he ought to have said this until after the capture, if then. It is nevertheless appropriate for it to be republished here.
Thanks.
Duped in sense that they thought they would detonate the bombs later and remotely. I would have thought that was obvious.
It is amazing the details that are being released concerning the investigation. This will help the Jihadists next time.
The fact that the jihadist leaders never seem to be the ones doing the martyrdom thing should tell you that.
Useful idiots either way, whether they knew they would blow themselves up or whether they thought they were working on some strategic operation that they would survive. If they were duped, they got a late lesson that yes, morals do matter.
I hope they catch this guy alive. Maybe he could give us some insight into why these sensitive, caring, peace-loving people hate the west so much. We must know what it is that we have done that has so thoroughly pissed these folks off, and what we need to do to make amends.
Meanwhile, back on Aruba....
Last paragraph of the article. Suicide bombers would need neither timers or cell phone detonators. I'd bet it turns out they thought they were of to leave these bombs in locations around London, would meet up later, and return to Leeds. They'd then set them off remotely. They trusted the wrong guy, and he blew them up.
The "late" bomb in the bus might be explained by the cell phone not picking up the signal while underground, and the bomb-carrier getting evacuated along with everyone else. He realized that at least one other bomb had gone off (prematurely, to his mind) and he was not going to be able to deliver it where he was told. He's frantically trying to disarm it, while their "friend" was trying to get a call through in the now saturated cellular system, and to set off the final bomb. The call finally gets through, and the bus is ripped apart. This is reinforced by the fact that he's on the upper deck ... if he wanted to kill, he'd be in the middle of the bottom level.
Makes sense, no?
We have to wait and see if the cell phone detonators are confirmed, but sure, it is a very reasonable scenario. Like I said, these guys did not seem to me like suiciders on CCTV according to the reports I heard.
All possibilities must be looked into....even that they were told something else was in the backpacks and asked to deliver them. We're they given money for their efforts? Did they leave a tape stating they were giving their lives (per other suicide bombers)? Why would you carrying all your ID and credit cards with you if you were planning on dying? A lot of unanswered questions for sure!
It's not tinfoil time, it's time to solve the mystery.
---- It is amazing the details that are being released concerning the investigation. This will help the Jihadists next time. ----
The up-side of making this information public is that if there are other "dupes" thinking they are going to assist the Jihad by carrying backpacks full of explosives to some location which will then be set off...they might realize that the guy who is giving them directions is planning to blow them up *without* having done their ceremonial Jihadist rituals and thereby send them to hell.. but he doesn't care.
Maybe one of these guys will drop a dime once they realize they have been duped.
I believe the Lodi 5 were probably going to be doing this exact same thing except our HS folks caught them before they could. (BART tube under the bay on a Monday AM?)
Take note of this.
I heard they are looking for someone who was born in Jamaica.
Why did you specifically point that out.
Speaking of "profile"...
Has anyone noticed that whenever there are crimes committed that the media is covering extensively, they often have some professional "profiler" on stating what the "typical criminal" would be like, would be doing, thinking, what we should look for, etc.
However, I have never seen any of these people to be correct when the actual "perps" have been caught. At least I do not recall any. Example: They profiled the DC sniper, to be one person, from the area who knew the roads, yadda, yadda. Turned out to be 2 people who traveled all over; never lived in the area.
I think sometimes these "profilers" are more harm than good when they get on TV and expound on the kind of person who might be responsible for a particular crime. They make the public look for specific types; expect specific behavior, etc. When, more often, the criminals don't match any profiles at all.
