Ed Klein's New York Times best-seller "The Truth About Hillary" has been trashed in the media as too salacious to be taken seriously, with reporters highlighting allegations that Klein never made about Mrs. Clinton's sexual orientation and being raped by her husband.
But the real trouble for Hillary is hinted at in the book's subtitle: "What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President."
What critics seem to want to avoid is Klein's claim that Hillary knew all along that her husband was carrying on an affair with Monica Lewinsky - and even approved of relationships with other White House women.
If Klein is right, Mrs. Clinton's cold acceptance of her husband's philandering shatters her image as marital victim, which turned out to be the biggest political asset of her 2000 Senate campaign.
Clinton campaign insiders no doubt hope that Hillary's victim persona will remain a potent political weapon come 2008.
That is, as long as books like Klein's don't stick.
"The Truth About Hillary" author goes beyond claims in previous Clinton books, reporting that Mr. Clinton's affair with Lewinsky was practically common knowledge in Democratic Party circles.
Based on an interview with a Democratic Party fund-raiser who requested anonymity, Klein reports that Monica's mother openly bragged about the affair:
"By [April 1996], rumors about Bill and Monica had spread throughout the entire Democratic Party establishment. Marcia Lewis, Monica's mother, attended several Women's Leadership Forum events that were sponsored by the women's section of the Democratic National Committee. At these meetings, Marcia Lewis lost no opportunity to boast that her daughter was having an affair with the president of the United States."
How likely is it that such a claim escaped Mrs. Clinton's notice?
Klein notes that Hillary's White House enforcer, Evelyn Lieberman, was assigned the task of keeping her husband out of trouble.
But Lieberman, says Klein, "adopted a hands-off attitude when Bill Clinton indulged in affairs with women who were labeled 'safe' by the First Lady. As a result, several of Bill Clinton's former girlfriends, who were known as 'graduates,' were given cushy jobs at the White House."
The best-selling author adds, "There were those who wondered whether Monica Lewinsky was included in this harem, since Evelyn Lieberman never said whether she informed Hillary about Bill's affair with the intern."
No less an authority than Rev. Jesse Jackson, who ministered to the Clintons after the Lewinsky story broke, has suggested that the revelation of her husband's involvement with a 23-year-old woman was old news to Mrs. Clinton.
"Hillary's not naive," Jackson told reporters after Mr. Clinton officially admitted his transgression. "There was no great shock. Hillary knows her husband well and has for twenty-five years. ...She knew what was going on."
If Hillary did indeed know about Monica, it means her entire political career has been based on a marital lie she used to foster sympathy with the electorate.
And while that won't trouble some her most devoted supporters, Red State values voters critical to the success of her 2008 presidential bid are not likely to be so forgiving.
So...to be clear...Hillary is basically Bill's pimp.

And it goes much further than that, when it comes to things that these two (BONNIE AND CLYDE) have committed together, to say nothing of apart. Those citizens of this country who CARED ABOUT WHAT THEY PUT IN THE WHITE HOUSE knew already, the level these two reprobate criminals operate/d at. Actually, Billy never needed a pimp -- even though he might have returned similar favors for Hitlery when she was "feeling girlish" (so to speak) -- no, from circles of people close to these "people", Billy has had, especially prior to his medical issues (whatever those really are), all the bimbos he could manage. He did not ever really need Hitlery to hustle any action for him.
The book is great - I am part way through mine. I wish they could do an air-drop of it all over the U.S. and especially over military installations. Hitlery is not going to escape or modify the carpet-bagging, Marxist, reprobate status she has earned in plain site of the American public, to say nothing of what she has earned out of public view -- we can only imagine, and probably would have a pretty high hit rate.
Which is why she told Ed Klein to write the book. Amazing how many have taken the bait here.
However, IMHO this article establishes nome of that. Even if Lewinsky's mother bragged, it is entirely plausible no one would repeat it to Hilary. And all J Jackson was saying was that Hilary knew Bill was a scumbag in general so she knew what he was probably up to.
Because I know that, I have no reason to read the book. I am surrounded by enough filth in this world that I don't want those mental images stuck in my head for the rest of my life. Honestly, I don't think I could bring myself to shake the man (or woman's) hand.
BUT, I believe much of what is said, and for those who do not know or understand, this book probably isn't a bad thing. I do wonder if it will actually change any minds though.

Have you seen any of the interviews with Klein pushing his book? He even admits that he didn't speak with most of the people he quotes in his book. He's just quoting what "someone else" told him. And he even uses wrong names for some of his "sources". He admitted all this and said it would be corrected in the second edition. Too funny.

I live to see her either fail to get the nomination or watch her go down in flames. Trouble IS that at this moment, I just don't see our "man-on-white-horse" galloping up on the horizon......maybe that's because it'll be a woman-on-white-horse.......?

It's been clear for a long time what kind of woman Hillary is. A Communist, a lesbian, a lamp thrower, an enabler, a thief, a murderer, and power drunk to the hilt.
None of this bothers her admirers in the least. I doubt whether Klein's book will have much lasting effect.
Hillary can be beaten, but only if the Republicans get their act together, do a good job with the judicial appointments, and put forward a good, solid, conservative candidate for president in 2008.
Are those carpet fibers on her chin?
Monica took the story off the treason of the Clinton's and the RAT party. The idea to plant her in the White House can probably be tied to Hillary.
George Will has a new column on JWR and also on townhall.com about George Allen taking the pulse of voters in N.H. for a possible run. He could be a real force, and he has growth potential. People made fun of Ronnie in his initial foray into N.H., but once he made that fabulous comments, "I PAID for this microphone!", lots of the mockery cooled down. Like GWB, Ronald Reagan was "misunderestimated" for a long while.
From what I've seen, I like George Allen very much.

I cannot believe that ANYBODY, liberal, conservative or whatever, could not be aware that hillary has always known about slick willie's terminal horniness. I also don't believe that anybody could think hillary is anything other than a cold, calculating, power-mad would-be dictator. liberals just like her because she's THEIR cold, calculating, power-mad would-be dictator.
