BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

This is NOT the thread for criticism of Bush.

This is about our staunchest ally and the terrorist attack they have suffered.

Fox reports 7/8 explosions and not at all clear if it's over yet or not.

No one has taken responsibility yet, but Al Queda did not take credit for Madrid for a long time (probably to spread confusion).

Prayers for all our Londoner friends and allies. And death to the Islamofascists - time to take off the other glove and unleash hell. This has got to stop once and for all no matter the cost.

This sure puts 3 meals a day at Guantanamo into perspective, and it puts into perspective how vulnerable we still are in the US.

I have been thinking the same thing. I keep seeing that idiot, Arianna Huffington, whining about the appearance of evil at Gitmo. It just seemed kind of selfish to post about our trivial political differences while our British friends are suffering such a tragedy.

Our morning rush hours are just beginning and I will be very nervous today.

Needless to say, we need to be on alert in the United States.

God be with the UK right now and please be with President Bush right now and grant him a safe return to to our shores.

-----

On another note-can't wait to hear the spin (can't think of names) the nay-sayers in Parliment will put on this. They will blame us of course. "If it was not for President Bush and his War on Terror, our country would not be under attack."

We British would like to say thanks to all of you for your unwavering support.

On America's blackest day since the Civil War, when the President rose to address the Congress and the People, all our fairweather friends were back on their ranchos and at their offices.......it was your P.M. who was sitting in the gallery, chipper and ready to go, running toward trouble, his pockets bulging with well-used brass knuckles.

Funny how when things get really bad and the sky turns black, the same old faces seem to turn up.

We don't forget things like that. Got your backs, amigo.

Colonel Hunt on now. FINALLY, a sane person commenting. Says this has nothing to do with the Olympics. Points out that it was an attack on the ecomic center. Says it took too long to plan this. Hunt says no one could have stopped this...too many people coming in for G8, Live 8, etc.
