BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

If that's true, then the leftist who whined about GITMO should be held liable for this attack.

Absolutely!

I've never liked the term Homicide Bomber. I know that it is used to emphasize the "homicide", but just about any bomber is a homicide bomber. Eric Rudolph is a "homicide bomber". Suicide bombers kill themselves and others too.

You're kidding, right? Bush is not the conservative many had hoped. Republicans would have pooped their pants if Clinton introduced the spending and expanding gov't Bush has. Bush needs to let the military do what they do best-forget about the meels on wheels missions in Iraq-exterminate these POS.

One thing I'll never forget, because I found it so prescient yet eerie right after 9/11, was the radio show that John Batchelor did just previous Saturday evening (Sept.8)-- it was one month before the Cole anniversary, and they did the entire show on OBL and the threat he still posed. Still gives me chills to recall that show.

Yes not sure if it is true, but the Brits are reporting that at least the bus was a homicide bomber.

I wouldn't know; lately I've been sticking to CNBC & the Euro News Channel, where they report on... the NEWS! (If you don't mind the fruity segments on modern art & soccer, it's rather informative.)

I awoke from a nap to find Katie Couric spouting on MSNBC.
Katie Couric.....?
Did the afternoon anchors call off sick?

Soledad O'Brien has been on CNN all day too. Talk about a brainless twit.

Does it make me a bad person to be seething with rage at Islam right now? I have such hate in my heart for them right now. It seems that it is evil to it's very core.

This summer parallels the summer of 2001.

2001 Chandra Levy and sharks

2005 Natalie Holloway and sharks.

As opposed to those who let him out? Or those who carried out the bombings?

I think people are a bit too focused on voices of dissent - it is not as if they have any effect on the actions of our government.

I agree, although some people dislike "suicide bomber" because they feel it gives to much attention to the perpetrator rather than to the victims. I think the terms keeps our focus on the disregard they feel for life--that they are willing to kill themselves to impose their twisted ideology on everyone else.

Jeez, Katie Couric and Andrea Mitchell on the same channel?

Wonder how many brain cells are actually active at MSNBC?

We have killed thousands of terrorist in Iraq, it just never gets reported. Just like we did in Germany, Japan, Afghanistan, etc., while we kill whatever evil has infested the country, we feed the innocent.

QUOTE OF THE DAY (but date unknown)

Hugh Hewitt: "I go to Free Republic every day, probably 20 times. I bet you that I’ve heard every major story first on Free Republic, except for 9/11 (I was broadcasting on 9/11 while it happened). Now there are some nuts at Free Republic, some absolute off the wall goofballs. I always warn my listeners and friends in the blogosphere that you have to learn to work that site to avoid the goofballs, but in terms of having thousands people looking for news and posting it, it is far, far, faster than any of the news services." — Right Wing News - The Hugh Hewitt Interview
