BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

"Skinner's trying to remove the evidence that he runs an insane asylum, not a web forum."

An utterly futile effort, as mountains of such evidence are stored on his hard drives....lol.

IF this story is true----

the detainee would have to have been released because President Bush was doing Tony Blair a "favor"....

BETCHA the whole Gitmo investigation may be history about now, also!

Coming in late on this discussion (am in Hawaii, so a few hours behind you guys on the Mainland). Someone apparently said in a posting:

"They're saying Bush did it to distract from Rove and DSM (I wish I were kidding)."

I don't know who this is, but I can report I have also already heard the "blame Bush" angle on National People's Radio.

When I flipped the radio on after I woke up this a.m., they were in the midst of the British making a statement (coming in in the middle, at first I was really concerned that a nuclear device had been let off--it took a while before it became clear what had actually happened). After that, after a few minutes NPR was interviewing by phone an "on the spot" reporter (London Times?) who turned out not to be "on the spot" at all and hadn't seen anything. But then the guy launched into he wasn't surprised about the attacks, that he was expecting them earlier because of Blair's support for Bush and the war in Iraq. NPR then cut the guy off and the interviewer went on as though she hadn't heard his statement.

It's obvious that the NPR people have been instructed to shut off the "blame Bush" propaganda machine for today, but that one slipped through.

Everything is on a time-delay basis of 6 hours out here, so this may be old news to you all.

I hope Mel Gibson does a no-holds-barred movie about the 8th century Battle of Tours.

I think the words that could sum that up would be "reckless hate".

I could call them stone age cretins, but that would be a dire insult to the few stone age cultures that still exist, since they are relatively peaceful and possess some demonstrable compassion.

The DUmmies will go wild with that information about Rudy: "what did Rudy know and when did he know it?....is Rudy a member of AQ?...." This will stir up a few days of delusional paranoia at DU...lol.

This was the subject of a controversy a couple of years ago. Some people (myself included) felt "homicide bomber" was the more apt term, since the bomber was committing murder, not just offing himself. "Suicide bomber" sounds like some dude alone in a field blowing himself up.

A suicide bomber would only kill himself. A homicide bomber murders others.

"REPORT: One UK Homicide Bomber Was Recent GITMO Release 7 July 2005; 12:54 ET"

If this is true....
Oh man. We need to go cell by cell and shoot the ones currently at Gitmo.
Durbin can then personally clean out each cell and give a proper burial to the deceased terrorists.

Thank you. My thoughts exactly. This crap won't end in our lifetime until someone with balls as big as church bells gets into the oval office and makes some very difficult and unpopular choices(re:OPEC's relationship, playing REAL hardball with countries harboring terrorists, immigration, etc) Bush is a nice fella, but hardly the leader many wished for.

Some guy was on FOX from the WP that was once again telling everyone how to feel about Muslims and not to prejudge them.

I wonder if Blair will start saying that Islam is a religion of peace.

"A question though : if we are to stop doing any business whatsoever with Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, etc...where will the oil come from ?"

Alternative fuels. Forget what the Leftists say, we drill our own oil and make the switch to alt. Fuels over a period of years. Would pay off handsomely in the long run. You know, I almost wish the earth's oil supply WOULD run out so we'd be forced to make the switch. Seems to be about the only way we're going to get it to happen.
