Lindsey Graham issues warning to DemocRATS on Hannity show
Hannity show | 7-6-05 | dfu

Senator Lindsey Graham made it very clear on the Hannity radio show today. If some conservatives thought he would get wobbly in the Supreme Court battle, that fear should now be abated.

Graham will support the Constitutional option if the DemocRATS try to filibuster a qualified candidate because of ideology.

Graham noted that it was not done with Scalia or Ginsberg. It has never been done that way.

He further noted that the President, who was elected twice, made it clear that he most respects Scalia and Clarence Thomas. That is the type of pick Graham expects.

Graham is in serious trouble here in South Carolina and he knows it!

He's probably hoping for a filibuster so he can clear his name!

Worse, he qualified the condition something like this: "only filibusters for ideological reasons THAT ARE UNFAIR would constitute using the nuclear option. "

Just the fact that he qualified his answer was disturbing. He did say, however, the he would vote for the nuclear option.

Humm. Would this be Lindsey 'Nancy boy' Graham? He'll fold like a wet paper bag.

DAMMIT, ARE YOU PEOPLE NEVER HAPPY??? HE SAID WHAT HE SAID ON THE PUBLIC AIRWAVES SO IT COULD BE HEARD .....WE CANT WIN WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU D-FENDR...STOP BRINGING US DOWN !! THE HOUR OF RECKONING IS UPON US , WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH TO MUCH FOR NEGATIVE WORDS ...ITS TIME TO ROCK!!!

Look, Graham qualified his answer! That in itself was disturbing. We have the opportunity to place a judge on the SCOTUS, and I, personally, don't want Graham or McCain or any of the other spineless 7 screwing things up! Now, that's not negative, that is damn positive!

You're welcome. It is what I heard too and I didn't have a burrito for lunch. Actually, I've never had a burrito. LOL

I get the impression that there are some unwritten side agreements to the 14 Senator agreement that we aren't aware of. We can count on the seven Democrats joining a filibuster but can we count on the seven Republicans to vote for the nuclear option? I wouldn't count on Lindsey.

I think that both Warner and Graham threw down the gauntlet today. They are in it to win. We will not be disappointed..

The President's team will certainly cover this angle, most likely vetting the candidates to the Nth degree.

I don't necessarily believe that everyone has a skeleton in the closet - no one is perfect - but let's face it potential nominees may look forward to being called bigots, philanderers, pedophiles, employers of illegal immigrants and stuff that you and I have not even dreamed up.

Chuckie Cheese and the crew will do the mudslinging.

The "mainstream" media will gladly carry the "gospels" to the people.

And what will we do??

I ain't buying it,...and I'm going to get into every hardbaked liberal and soft-headed Democrats' face over it, too. They can only do this again if we allow it.

This proclamation by Lindsey is not surprising.

I have nothing but gratitude for Graham for his going to the mat and taking a whole lot of undeserved heat while helping to trap the rats in that disastrous (for them) "deal". DeWine was the other piece of the puzzle, and he was magnificent in that play also.

Priscilla Owens - - confirmed for life.
Janice Rogers Brown - - confirmed for life.
William Pryor - - confirmed for life.
(A couple of other good conservatives) - - confirmed for life.

We're gold. The rats can do nothing to stop us.

What kind of judge would be satisfactory? Janice Rogers Brown.

What did I think of Sandy Baby? Not much. She has done more to produce the most ridiculous rulings in the history of the Supreme Court. She really ticked me off when she said we should consult (and base their rulings on) International law. She lives most of the time outside of the US in France which explains a lot. To me she was a liberal, a legal intellectual lightweight, a loose cannon.

What constitutes shooting off one's mouth as opposed to voicing opinion? The connotation is that the former consists of uninformed ranting, with little forethought or consideration for the facts.

My comments specifically are based on the actions (or more appropriately, non-action) of the Republican majority in the Senate. It is my opinion that they are a disorganized bunch who rarely join together in a show of party unity when approaching the most divisive of issues, which, coincidently, happen to be of the most importance to their conservative base. And, yes, I chose hyperbole to more forcefully get my point across...it is often a useful writing tool in order to convey the emotion of a message in a limited number of words.

I'm not going to debate here the merits or pitfalls of lock-step unity by party members. Of course there is a case to be made that representation of one's constituents takes precedence over party when one's conscience demands it. This is the crucial difference between the Dim's seemingly impenetrable wall of unity and us.

However, I don't feel in the specific case of judicial appointments that attacks of conscience are the contributing factor to the Republican's disarray among themselves and their leadership.

Sorry, I didn't mean you specifically. I hope everyone will take a deep breath. I am as upset as anyone with the RINOS who appear to have no gonads and with the deal they made with the DemocRATS. But yesterday was good news with both Graham and Warner making their positions clear. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and watch what they do. Until they actually debate and perform, I am not going to condemn them on their Supreme Court vote. In my mind, Graham said it for the world to see --- he is standing with the president and judges like Scalia are what he expects and whom he will support. Ideology will not stop the nominee.

And I certainly didn't mean to jump all over you, either. You're right, a deep breath by all and a measure of patience while awaiting the outcome is sorely needed. I'll will admit there was a certain measure of frustration in my initial response!

On an unrelated note, I really enjoy your posts and your songs...I sure wish I had that kind of creativity!

We're in this fight together, my friend. I really do expect Frist and the rest to stand tall in this battle. They realize that they will lose much of their conservative base if they do not come through.

Graham's defiance:

Darn you democrats! I will raise my voice...but not enough to alarm anybody.

The wind blew and the smoke flew. This guy Graham is an opportunist on the order of John Kerry. Lets hope his constituents are on to him.

Comparing him to Kerry is both foolish and ludicrous. This is an amazing thread.

I am actually going to wait to see what he does in this battle. If he opposes the Constitutional option, I will join the call to burn him at the stake.
