Hillary Clinton Blasts President Bush on Border Security
NewsMax ^ | 7/4/05 | Carl Limbacher

2008 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is blasting President Bush for lax enforcement of the nation's immigration laws, saying the White House has dropped the ball on border security and put the country at risk for another major terrorist attack.

In a statement posted to her newly revamped official Senate web site, Clinton charges: "The Bush administration is failing to meet what should be the basic requirements of immigration policy: continuing our American tradition of welcoming immigrants who follow the rules and are trying to build a better life for their families, while strengthening national security in a post 9-11 world."

In a potentially potent bid to win Red State support in 2008, the former first lady is playing the role of tough cop:

"Our current immigration laws need to be reformed," she urges. "We need a better solution to the question of illegal immigration which recognizes the conflict between the need to enforce the law, and the reality that too many employers are using undocumented workers today."

Clinton says that while "this administration has failed to provide the resources to protect our borders, or a better system to keep track of entrants to this country . . . I welcome the addition of more border security."

She pins blame for the failure directly on the Oval Office, saying, "President Bush refused to provide the necessary funding in his Fiscal Year 2006 proposed budget sufficient to hire all of the border patrol agents that had been authorized."

"Fortunately," Clinton adds, "during the Senate’s debate on the budget in March of 2005, we passed an amendment to provide increased funding for border patrol agents."

Then, in a none-too-subtle dig at GOP foot-dragging on the immigration issue, Clinton says: "I hope the Republican leadership will support the maintenance of this funding, to provide the resources necessary to properly protect our borders."

"And, if she's really smart, she'll put Bill Richardson on the ticket..."

He'd be a good choice, except he has a zipper problem, and he drives an SUV (too fast, too).

IMHO,..Heads-up! Whenever Bill acted in the White House with a similar accusation, it was generally promoted from Hillary. Within her grande designs, this type of accusation is usually setup by her own machinations and inside craftsmanship. Once a person remains righteous and studies Hillary's behavior, she tips her hand every time. She is telegraphing that she already is cognizant of something happening across the border that she has helped to control. Before the Clinton's left the White House, one of their last acts was correspondance and liaison with Mexican power players and some not so powerful, at least at the time. This accusation portends something cooking within her sphere of past influence.

Her accusations telegraph her perceptions and how she visions right from wrong, playing her perceived adversaries as though her perceptions were self-fulfilling. She has much more active involvoment in issues where she becomes so engaged,...perhaps several persons removed, but nevertheless, she has hand her hand in something wicked here. Bookmark her remarks on this topic, so that when hostility occurs, closely track her past associations that may have led to this point.

IMHO, She is an enemy of the Constitution who has not yet been held accountable, and this type of activity by Hillary is a hallmark and reminescent of her past personal involvement.

I assume your question to me concerned likely 2008 Democratic presidential candidates. If so, I believe nearly all likely 2008 Democratic presidential candidates have a record as terrible on illegal immigration and border security as President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton. I believe that all likely 2008 Democratic presidential candidates support legal status for illegal aliens.

If your question to me was to simply name a Democrat with a good record on immigration, regardless of whether that Demcorat will run for president in 2008, I believe that Cong. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) has a good record on immigration.

Sen. McCain and Sen. Kennedy are sponsoring an amnesty plan for millions of illegal aliens. Earlier this year, Sen. Hagel, like Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain, supported amnesty for illegal alien agricultural workers.

If Sen. Clinton is elected president, border security in her administration will be a joke, just as it was under President Bill Clinton and just as it has been under President George W. Bush. If Sen. Clinton is elected president she will support legislation giving legal status to illegal aliens, just as President Bill Clinton did and just as President Bush does.

You say "immigration is not my primary issue." Does the issue of illegal immigration have any impact on which candidate you will support in 2008?

In March 2005, Cong. Tancredo received the "Taxpayers' Friend Award" from the National Taxypayers Union (NTU). According to the NTU, Cong. Tancredo was given an "A" rating by the NTU for being one of the strongest supporters of responsible tax and spending policies in Congress. Here is a link to the NTU's list of "2004 Taxpayer Friends": http://www.ntu.org/main/page.php?PageID=75 . Cong. Tancredo ranked twelth (12th) highest in the entire House of Representatives in NTU's ratings.

In May 3, 2005, received one of the "Best & Brightest" awards from the American Conservative Union (ACU). The ACU recognized those members of the U.S. Congress who recorded a perfect score of one hundred percent (100%) in the ACU ratings. Here is a link to the ACU's web page with photos of May 3, 2005, ceremony at which the "Best & Brightest" awards were given: http://conservative.org/pressroom/bestbrightest.asp . The ACU ratings are based on how representatives voted during twenty-five (25). Cong. Tancredo achieved his perfect score with none of the votes having anything to do with immigration.

What is his zipper problem?

Are his driving habits something that has been the subject of discussion in the press?

Have you ever seen a picture of Richardson when he was wearing a goatee a few years ago?

Don't even begin to go there. Whenever Hillary Clinton has played this angle, it has been when she has had an inside hand to attack Americans in full rebellion of the intent of the Constitution. She is setting the stage of playing her perceived enemies against themselves. She has been mobilizing socialists foreign to America to attack our shores, and now from the south. This is a setup. She fully intends on giving the thumbs up to a third party attack, then claiming she's protecting America. Remain alert. She isn't telling the truth other than what she has orchestrated. Afterwards she'll have maneuvered herself to grant those who attack amenable terms, while she rides the tide of mediocre public support.

IMHO, this isn't a political issue, it's probably an intel ops issue. Same MO as many of her past forays into public operations. IMHO, Intel ops need to closely track her past liaisons and sphere of influence south of the border. She's tipped her hand, now redirect the resources.

Several of the 9/11 terrorist murderers were illegal aliens by virtue of having overstayed their visas. The time period immediately following 9/11 was the perfect time to address the subject of deporting this country's illegal aliens.

Hillary can bash Bush on open borders and she looks tough.
If Bush were to scream for close borders Hillary's own people will label Bush a racist and bigot.

It resonated with me. I am sick of this nonsense with all these illegals and cringe when I hear about GWB and the Admn. talking about the Syrian border while ignoring our own.

Couldn't agree more... all of Hillary's words have a meaning, and careful study of her statements (and planted stories in her MSM allies such as the NY Times) reveals that border security will be integral to her 2008 platform.

I agree. She is pounding this issue to stir the pot, not to solve the problem. Beware of context.

Hillary is playing a political game, you know it, I know it, and most people here know it. The problem is, it's going to play extremely well to the masses and could very well topple the Republicans from power if they do NOT pull their heads out of their asses on this issue.

Sorry to be so late here L_MT, but you have SO hit the nail on the head. She will eat our lunch, with our bread, meat and cheese, if we continue to allow our leaders to allow this travesty of illegal immigration to continue.

The she-witch has seen this issue as a winner and if she wins *shudder* it will be because Republican "leaders" thought this to be a soft issue.

"Hillary won't lose a single libbie vote on this"

You are right. Actually many if not most liberal Americans (who are not politicians) are also against illegal immigration. They are only FOR it when a conservative comes out against it and they are able to call that conservative a "bigot" Wake up republicans!
There are many more arguments against illegal immigration than I've been hearing. Most illegals come here from Mexico and Central America via Mexico or from Canada. This is making it very very difficult for other nationalities who wish to come to the USA with all good intentions. A pro-American, pro-capitalist Vietnamese who knows that big government, socialism and communism fails everytime has less than a 5% chance of getting a VISA after applying. Why? Because the USA has already reached it quota many times over thanks to illegal immigration from Mexico who come here NOT to contribute to our capitalist society but to live off US government hand-outs.

You nailed it.

GWB has no excuse for the total lack of security regarding our borders. None what-so-ever.
