Little Rock, AR - Tempers rage Saturday afternoon as the LULAC convention ends with a demonstration by a white supremacist group.
Russellville-based group White Revolution protested the League of United Latin-American citizens outside the Statehouse Convention Center Saturday afternoon.
The protest started quietly with a handful of people holding a banner and signs, but quickly turned into much more.
(Sgt. Terry Hastings, Little Rock Police Department)"A lot of times, the people here at the convention get in a confrontation with the protestors, that turns into a shouting match a lot of times."
Which is exactly what happened.
(Protestor) "How many illegals do you have in there?"
(Protester) "Come and take all the Germans back."
Police were on hand to make sure that this protest remained only a war of words.
(Sgt. Terry Hastings, Little Rock Police Department) "They have a right to be here, and we're here to protect both them and the people that are in the convention."
Not everyone participated in the chaos. The national historian for LULAC, simply watched and asked why.
(Benny Martinez, LULAC National Historian) "I don't understand what they're protesting. We're here to strengthen America. They don't know what LULAC is about. They need to learn."
Meanwhile, inside the convention center Saturday LULAC members tried not to let protesters interrupt the day's activities. In fact, they spent much of Saturday preparing for next year electing officers to LULAC's national board.
Yes, I guess you are right on that but there are so many other issues and I'm just a common housewife, not an orator to argue all the issues.
<<"Come and take all the Germans back."
Does anyone understand what this slogan means?<<<
German Mennonites. They immigrate to Mexico, spend the time it takes to become Mexican citizens, then immigrate to the US as Mexican nationals. Easier than coming as Germans.
All that i have met are farmers, and buy land. A very tight religous culture. I see the women ith the 1950's clothing and scarves on their heads in Wal-Mart, more and more.
That is not unique to illegals. The same rules apply to them as to you.
The problem is that Congress passed a law requiring ERs to stabilize everyone who comes in without regard to ability to pay.
Of course, when asked, the people with insurance furnish that info to the ER and the ER is paid by the insurance companies.
People without insurance are mailed bills which some voluntarily pay and others don't.
It just so happens that in your area the people without insurance (ie, the poor) tend to be Hispanic immigrants. In other areas they are other impoverished groups. It has nothing to do with the legality of their immigration status.
This is a problem inherent in socialism. Just look at Canada and England where the waiting lines for free medical treatment are horrendous.
Middle class and up are learning about the free 7/24 medical care at ERs and are going to them for minor things that they would usually go to their doctor for, but which are not covered by their insurance.
Regardless of anything concerning immigration, the problem of ERs is going to get worse.
That rent money comes from taxpayers through social programs. The landlord gets the tax payers money from the illegals to pay the school taxes. It just moves from one hand to another, but it's still tax payers money.
It could be worse. At least they aren't German liberals.
There was a Polish American Chamber of Commerce when I lived in Miami. It was headed by a Polish-Brazillian.
Unfortunately, that fat*ss Kennedy and the RINO traitor McCain have their amnesty legislation which is due to be submitted in the next week or two. Even if their bill fails, there are more plans in the hopper to grant illegals amnesty. No matter what they call it, it's still amnesty. I wonder how many terrorists will be granted amnesty along with all the free loaders from south of the border.
Most of the Section 8ers and PJ dwellers in NY were/are native born American blacks and Nuyoricans. Most of the Mexicans (and I lived in a nabe with several) that I encountered in NY and Chicago would pool their wages and put 6 guys in a 500 sq. ft. one bedroom apartment. Maybe its different in other cities.
I won't get into an arguement with you bayourod, we have different thoughts on this.
My grandparents from Poland came legally to America, started speaking English, worked hard and opened their own business. They never got anything free.
That is where I come from.
LOL, how funny!! I guess my grandparents were from a former era of 'common sense'!
It's a manufactured crises.
The left wanted the government to take over health care. It's a Socialist government control thing.
First, they had to destroy the system we had, so they could come in as the "saviors of the people."
They sent out the trial lawyers.
The lawyers drove up the cost of doctors insurance for legal expenses through frivolous law suits. The cost was then passed on to the consumers insurance company, driving that cost way up. People could no longer afford the high cost of insurance, and many were left without.
Along comes the Socialist left, promising to "save the day" with Universal Health Care, and they get their government take over of the health care system as planned.
They create the crises to get more government control. "It's gotten so bad, only the government can fix it."
My ancestors on both sides came here prior to the Revolutionary war and they never got anything free either. Its not an immigration issue, it's a government welfare program issue.
(By the way, my ancestors were Appalachian sharecroppers and my farther rode the rails during the Great Depression looking for work, so length of time in country isn't the determining factor)
I am opposed to rewarding lawbreakers for violating our laws. But if a law is passed that rewards lawbreakers for violating our laws by allowing them to enter a guest worker program, then that law must be respected while it is in effect. As with abortion being legal despite the fact that I'm against abortion, a woman's right to get an abortion must be respected until that time when that right is taken away.
As far as anybody being fooled or playing silly word games, you many times say things that leave people uncertain as to what you really mean.
That doesn't change the fact that renters do not pay property taxes.
Yep. Mine came from Whales on ships. They worked in the coal mines digging coal for the railroads. There were no free handouts. People worked for a living back then. They appreciated being here.
It can be if they don't attempt to become legal and work without paying payroll taxes and continue to get government freebes.
What is unique to illegals is that they are not supposed to be here in the first place. They are in the United States in violation of Title 8 USC 1325.
More word games. The money doesn't come from thin air. It's built into the rent. You must be a renter if you think landlords don't have to factor ad valorum taxes into the rental.
I have several rentals and the average tax that renters are paying per month is close to $200.00. If a landlord didn't include taxes in the rent he would come out far ahead by liquidating and investing in securities.
