Little Rock, AR - Tempers rage Saturday afternoon as the LULAC convention ends with a demonstration by a white supremacist group.
Russellville-based group White Revolution protested the League of United Latin-American citizens outside the Statehouse Convention Center Saturday afternoon.
The protest started quietly with a handful of people holding a banner and signs, but quickly turned into much more.
(Sgt. Terry Hastings, Little Rock Police Department)"A lot of times, the people here at the convention get in a confrontation with the protestors, that turns into a shouting match a lot of times."
Which is exactly what happened.
(Protestor) "How many illegals do you have in there?"
(Protester) "Come and take all the Germans back."
Police were on hand to make sure that this protest remained only a war of words.
(Sgt. Terry Hastings, Little Rock Police Department) "They have a right to be here, and we're here to protect both them and the people that are in the convention."
Not everyone participated in the chaos. The national historian for LULAC, simply watched and asked why.
(Benny Martinez, LULAC National Historian) "I don't understand what they're protesting. We're here to strengthen America. They don't know what LULAC is about. They need to learn."
Meanwhile, inside the convention center Saturday LULAC members tried not to let protesters interrupt the day's activities. In fact, they spent much of Saturday preparing for next year electing officers to LULAC's national board.
(Benny Martinez, LULAC National Historian) "I don't understand what they're protesting. We're here to strengthen America. They don't know what LULAC is about. They need to learn."
League of United Latin-American citizens.....a tan supremacist group.....
Here's the dilemma. If it's a white group, they're supremacists. If it's a minority group, they're "American citizens"?
Why does the press do that?
I don't know anything about either of these groups, but the whites are always considered the radicals and discriminated against by the press no matter who they are.
This is one of the problems, the 'latin americans' can't just come here and 'become' one of us. They always form their own groups.
We have a Chamber of Commerce, we have a Latin American Chamber of Commerce! Maybe I should form a "I'm half Polish Chamber of Commerce!!

I suppose the antis believe that the protestor's statement was not offensive because he inserted the word "illegal". No one's fooled.
It was a simple question and illegals are...illegal!

In 2008, there will be a candidate who promises to do something about this, and he'll get one heck of a lot of votes because of it.

And after the guest worker bill is passed and they become legal you will welcome them, right? No ones fooled, why even play the silly word games?
GW Bush is looking to gain a lot of supporters from the Spanish immigrants. Our borders remain open so by 2008, they can have an Amnisty Bill passed. To hell with the American Citizens. They just import people, give them Amnesty and gather the Votes!
bayourod, I live in South Texas among many wonderful hispanics.
I object to those who are not paying their own way and it ends up costing all of us more in insurance, doctor bills, etc.
We pay a big premium to go to the doctor and the hospitals but the illegals use the emergency room for a cold and never have to pay.
Our school taxes are also sky high because of this and those who do not own property do not pay.
Pay no attention to the coyote behind the curtain..

I live in Russellville and have never heard of this group. I dislike racist groups of any stripe. I would like to know who their members are so I can stay away from them. Gives me the creeps.
LOL, there's more than one coyote and they've got to know how the average person feels.
