WASHINGTON — Capitol Hill Democrats may be saying that the chairman of the Democratic National Committee doesn't speak for them, but Democratic activists and rank-and-file members outside the Beltway say they are happy with Dean's no-nonsense approach.
"People outside Washington, D.C., love Howard Dean. He raises money for state parties, he sends money to state parties and he's attacking Republicans. That's what the chair of the party is," said Bob Mulholland (search), a campaign adviser to the California Democratic Party and one of the DNC members who in February voted for the former Vermont governor and 2004 presidential hopeful to become chairman.
"There is overwhelming support for Governor Dean, and [Democrats] say, 'keep hitting them Republicans,'" Mulholland said, adding that he has seen no backlash against Dean since some comments he made about Republicans drew fire in early June. "Since then he's been on the road and getting good crowds."

Uh... is that why he can't even visit the south? Interesting that Foxnews would choose this headline with only 1 partisan source to back up the assertion.
This is pleasing too me because the Democrats don't seem to understand the average American does not like what Dean says or how he acts. He will be the best weapon the GOP can have in 2006.
I'm glad to hear they are pleased about being the minority party. Keep up the good work Dean...Kerry, Kennedy, Gore, Clinton, Carter...Just do what MoveOn.org tells you and the money will keep flowing!

But why are they avoiding him? Is it just possible that what this article is claiming is exactly wrong?
Well, to be fair, I don't perceive that the author of the article is claiming anything in particular. Rather, she quotes Bob Mulholland and a "grass roots activist," and they claim that Howard Dean has been successful. This is, of course, known as whistling past the graveyard.
The article was a good one, in my opinion, but the headline was extremely misleading. In fact, the story devoted considerably more space to Dean's detractors within the Democrats than his defenders.

Bob Muholland is both a whackjob and a POS. Yes, it is possible to be both.
If Dr. Demento is so popular out in the heartland, why is it that every time he visits the red states all the Democrat politicians suddenly have previous engagements? The Democrat politicians' relucantance to have photo ops with the good doctor is very telling. The exception seems to be Durbin the Turban, but he's clueless anyway.

Bob Mulholland is the most rabid RAT I've ever seen. I've seen him get so excited that he literally drools down his chin. So, IMHO, him praising Dean is only proof that mental illness is contagious.
