[history]
THE hottest book in Iran these days is Bill Clinton's "My Life." There are three unauthorized translations on the market and at least two more on the way, Iranian newspapers report. By all accounts, a George W. Bush memoir might do just as well. And that is only the most recent indication of the overwhelmingly favorable disposition of the Iranian population toward the United States.

I disagree, Iran is by far the most Pro-Western nation in the Middle East and I believe that one day (hopefully soon) the Clerics will be overthrown and hung like Mussolini

You're posting nonsense.
Learn more about Iran, and read the Iranian blogs and start talking to Iranians.
Stop making a fool of yourself.

Wow - such ignorance. Iran is a dictatorship - not a democracy therefore there is no democratic election in Iran. Perhaps you should read up on the situation just a 'tad bit' further.

Word of advice........., Educate them, don't insult them!!
Many people here in the USA simply don't understand what's going on in Iran. I also believe many FReepers don't either.
As someone who has several close friends who were born in Iran and have relatives still living there, I somewhat understand what is going on there in Iran. Not to mention all the great stuff the two of you have posted here on Free Republic.
Feed the uninformed, don't trash them
Your Friend,
Mike

Thanks for the ping. I am heartbroken for the people of Iran. I was honestly believing that their time had arrived.

MJY1288,
I totally agree with you. However, I called snowislander ignorant on the situation which I don't consider personally insulting or attacking, however if it was taken as such then I would like to personally apologize to snowislander.

Thanks, Mike.
I try to educate when someone seems to be genuinely illinformed.
This person is here to make insults and cause trouble.

I have seen a lot of snowsislnader's posts and I don't this FReeper is a disruptor, just somebody who doesn't know what you do. Although I admit that I don't know if he/she has a history of coming to your threads and bad mouthing everyday Iranians. Let me know if you have had trouble with this poster before, and I'll quit defending him/her if there is a history of negative comments about the Iranian people?

Word of advice........., Educate them, don't insult them!! While I understand your position, I wouldn't be to hard on them. After all, this thread is ongoing, if not daily.
Many of us are on ping lists and read it and communicate with those that are in Iran on a regular basis. It is difficult to watch what has happened to these poor people only to have those that pop on the thread once and think they know what is going on.
I am sure you can understand their frustration. You are very patient. We don't all have that virtue.

Have a good evening; I imagine that I will be signing off now since the day is starting to feel like a long one.

Good post, I agree with you. the more we can explain what is going on in Iran, the more support the good people of Iran will have.
For those who think the Mullah's in Iran are popular and this latest vote is an example of their support, I have this simple question for them...
How many people in Iran (or any place in the world), go to bed at night and dream of not being free, then wake up and look forward to the Vice & Virtue police watching their every move.
Freedom is a universal dream, it just takes a real leader to see it spread

I know, but far too many people simply don't know what's going on. So many of us Americans lump Iran in with the radical Arabs without understanding that Iran is a Persian Nation. The leadership in Iran and those who are loyal to them deserve every insulting post we can throw at them

...the more we can explain what is going on in Iran, the more support the good people of Iran will have. Understood! There is so much going on in the world right now and it is difficult to keep up. However, before posting on a thread of this nature, one should do the reading first, IMHO. This is not some LSM news scam article to attack.
Aside from all the new links with each new thread, Dr. Zin's homepage provides a wealth of information on Iran, for those that need to catch up.
Thank you for your comments.

Your Welcome, DrZ and nuconvert are both very well informed FReepers who I have great respect for. I never consider the general population of Countries we consider as the enemy. I wish others would do the same.
As I said earlier... Nobody goes to sleep at night and dreams of being under the rule of a Tyrant. Liberty is feared by only those who deny their people of it
