Karl Rove, President Bush's chief political adviser, spoke with TIME mag's Matthew Cooper during a critical week in July 2003 when Cooper was reporting on a public critic of the Bush administration who was also the husband of a CIA operative.
But Rove did not leak the name of the CIA op Plame, Rove's lawyer said again Saturday night.
Robert Luskin said Rove never identified Plame to Cooper in those conversations.
"Karl did nothing wrong. Karl didn't disclose Valerie Plame's identity to Mr. Cooper or anybody else,'' Luskin said to the WASHINGTON POST. Luskin said the question remains unanswered: ``Who outed this woman? ... It wasn't Karl.''
NBC's Lawrence O'Donnell claimed this weekend, 'Rove Blew CIA Agent's Cover'.
"Emails will reveal that Karl Rove was Matt Cooper's source. I have known this for months," O'Donnell said.

Odonnel is such a kook; wouldn't believe a word he said. I'm looking forward to Novak's column on this story when all is said and done with the Grand Jury. If the leaker had been Rove, it would have been released months ago, prior to the election. Spikey Mikey's story in Newsweak is just more wasted black ink on a white page. He is useless.
Ok, I'll admit it. They talked to me and I told them. It wasn't Rove.
I am inclined to believe that the DEMS are using another BOGUS document to target one of their most hated opponents.
We need to be ALL OVER THIS sniffing for what stinks.
Rathergate and Downing Street Memogate were just warm-ups for the new Marxists-at-Kinkos era. The good news is, WE are warmed up.
DO NOT LET THE LIBS CRUCIFY ROVE over something THEY probably created.
I've come to distust ANYBODY with a D after his name, except for Zell Miller.
We need another "Michael Jackson" debacle to give fodder to the media as to prevent this asinine coverage on the White House which will gain nothing.
My theory is that Cooper, Mandy Grunwald's husband and a rabid Democrat, may have tried to illegally contend that Karl Rove was his source and does not want to perjure himself before the Grand Jury. This makes sense then that the MSNBC O'Donnell operative would claim it was Rove in Cooper's notes, but Cooper is trying to avoid testifying since they have the notes. The notes could be a lie and attempt to frame Rove. If the SP knows this, Cooper (and Miller) are in a world of hurt ...
Didn't O'Donnell have a "melt-down" in 2004 when he was on a show with one of the SBVFT..he went postal, IIRC..
Pray for W and Our Troops
Somebody posted a link to the video of that meltdown on an earlier thread today. It is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I remember, it was Indy Pendance. Must see.
Yes he did---he was "debating" John O'Neill---and kept calling him a "creepy liar" and other insults..
I don't believe I have seen him on MSNBC since then...
BUT, if he knew that Rove did this, he wouldn't have kept quiet at all...he is a loud mouthed lib, that would love nothing more than to be the one to "get" Rove...
"If the leaker had been Rove, it would have been released months ago, prior to the election."
EXACTLY!! It would have been a bombshell .. and because it wasn't "leaked" - I'd say it wasn't true .. it's just another WISH by the left - a wish they will allow the kooks to spew as red meet for their kooky left.
I hear you and I agree with everything you said! The RATS HATE Karl Rove even more than they hate Bush and would cook up anything they could to destroy his reputation. And as far as Lawrence O'donnell goes, I'm glad it was him that dreamed up this lie. He's a vicious person! I wouldn't be surprised at anything he did!
He is a Dem operative. Nonetheless, they were trying to pin this on Rove from the start so it is possible it was a small conspiracy to do so and all the Dem ops don't know any better. Cooper's and Miller's notes may very well indicate Rove but the SP may have evidence it was not Rove, hence this conundrum where Cooper and Miller are terrified to testify in front of the Grand Jury because they used their notes and any statements to investigators to try to frame Rove ...
It's exactly what I said first thing today when I heard the revival of this charge.
