Rove Blew CIA Agent's Cover (O'Donnell says NewsWeak is outing him next week)
Huffington Compost ^ | Lawrence O'Donnell

Posted on 07/02/2005 10:40:22 AM PDT by hipaatwo

I revealed in yesterday's taping of the McLaughlin Group that Time magazine's emails will reveal that Karl Rove was Matt Cooper's source. I have known this for months but didn't want to say it at a time that would risk me getting dragged into the grand jury.

McLaughlin is seen in some markets on Friday night, so some websites have picked it up, including Drudge, but I don't expect it to have much impact because McLaughlin is not considered a news show and it will be pre-empted in the big markets on Sunday because of tennis.

Since I revealed the big scoop, I have had it reconfirmed by yet another highly authoritative source. Too many people know this. It should break wide open this week. I know Newsweek is working on an 'It's Rove!' story and will probably break it tomorrow.

Note how it gets lost in all this who the CIA agent was: Valerie Plame, Joseph Wilson's wife. She arranged for him to be chosen by the CIA, to be sent to Africa, to "investigate" reports of Saddam seeking uranium. Then Joe Wilson came back, after having tea with some high level officials and used his non-investigation to bash the Bush administration.

Why isn't someone investigating Valerie Plame for using her CIA position for political motives?

Also, I remember Novak saying at the time, that it was common knowledge in Washington, that Joseph WIlson's wife was a CIA agent. The news part was that it was because of her request and influence that her husband was picked to be the person sent.

Also -- why aren't we having investigations of the Dems who leaked major security info many times, which put our undercover agents IN country into danger and even have gotten them killed.(not like Valerie Plame, being safely in the US)

With everything that's going on in the World, all this guy is interested in is "getting" Karl Rove. A demonstration of where his mind is at. Derangement among Democrats.

Methinks O'Dumbell is off his meds again...

If this accusation proves false, I would strongly suggest a major Freep of MSNBC to fire this nincompoop.

But besides, (I made this point on another thread) Bill Clinton committed perjury and nothing happened to him...

Sandy Berger removed Top Secret files from safekeeping in his pants and socks, FGS, and nothing happened to him...so what exactly is the huge deal here?

Mr. Creepy Liar had better head for the tall grass. I am dead certain it isn't Rove.

Here's a question, if it IS Rove, why isn't Time running the story?

Rove wouldn't know about a CIA agent, wouldn't talk to Matthew Cooper, and wouldn't do an illegal leak. Period.

O'Donnell is losing his mind. I hope this ends up in HIS arrest.

Has anyone ever seen somebody "dragged" into a grand jury? Pet peeve of mine.

I'd give anything if this was the final nail in his coffin.

The men with the little white coats could come for Larry and he'll still be screaming LIAR

The man has some serious issues

I saw a reporter on TV discussing an early review of Plames upcoming book. It was just it's first draft. She said it discussed his wife's involvement in the CIA. Then the "book news" went silent. The book was delayed.
In my opinion, her husband outed her in the first writing and preview of his book. I can remember it as clear as day. It was either in the introduction or the first chapter. He was praising her.
I knew she was CIA long before a big deal was made out of it.
It had to be either FOX or MSNBC. The reporter was standing in front of the Capital building when giving her report.

considering cooper's story came out after novak's at best this would Rove commenting on novak's story, not the original source.

What is the proof? That O'Donnell says so? That Cooper says so? That Cooper has notes that say so. I have notes that say it was Sandy Berger and that is more believable.

Just some more crap from the Dems. If Rove was actually guilty of this they would have been on it sooner than this. This is payback for the anti-liberal statements he made last week. The dems are so easy to see through if you only look. The DS memos were supposed to show Bush and Blair plotted the war together but they don't show that. I would think this will be a similar case of unsupported accusations. After all Dems don't need proof, they just need the guts to accuse.

For security reasons no one in any White House administration knows identities of covert operatives within the CIA. The only information given by the CIA to the President is generic information using agent numbers. The White House may know some names of employees within the CIA but not job description if under cover. The reason for this is that if any one in the administration is kidnapped or taken hostage national security can't be compromised.
Rove probably knew Plames name but would have had no idea she was an operative. I think the judge and GJ have probably determined that no crime was committed except by Cooper and Miller for defying his order and wasting the GJ's time by making them guess at names when it could have been cleared up rather quickly. Novak is off the hot seat because he testified already and gave up the whole story.

Before I got to your comment, I was thinking that the guy has truly gone 'round the bend. Novak, I believe, said the source was not from the WH. I am hoping as well that he has done himself in for good with this one.

I snagged this from Vn_survivor_67-68

Below, from the full interview transcript, is an extract done by James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal of some of Lawrence O’Donnell’s inquisition:

It's one of the many lies that the book advances. To me the most interesting lie, John O'Neill, that I would submit to you that you should answer, is, you make a lying claim

that John Kerry's antiwar activity prolonged the amount of time that prisoners of war were held in Vietnam. . . . That's a lie, John O'Neill! Keep lying, it's all you do! . . . Lies! . . . Which is not in John O'Neill's book, 'cause it's a lie! . . . That's a lie! It's another lie! That's a lie! Absolute lie! You lie in that book endlessly! . . . You lie about documents endlessly! . . . You're just lying about it! And you lied about Thurlow's Bronze Star! You lied about it as long as you could until the New York Times found the wording of what was on the citation that you as a lying writer refused to put in your pack of lies! . . . Disgusting, lying book! . . . You have no standards, John O'Neill, as an author, and you know it! It's a pack of lies! You are unfit to publish! . . . He just lied to you! He spews out this filth! Point to his name on the report, you liar! Point to his name, you liar! . . . You just spew lies! . . . I just hate the lies of John O'Neill. I hate lies. It's not an argument; they're proven lies. . . . O'Neill's a liar, he's been a liar for 35 years about this, and he's found other liars [unintelligible]. . . . They lied! . . . They're lying somewhere! . . . Lies! Just tell me the initials, you liar! Creepy liar! . . . You are a liar who makes things up! . . . You want the lies! That's how you make your living, on lies!

Larry has shown clear signs of psychiatric incapacities in the past. If, as is likely, this is another such instance, will that FINALLY be enough to keep any reputable news outlet (excluding CBS, of course) from putting him on air, ever again?

If it was Rove, you know the MSM would have been all over it, 24/7, headline news. A leak of the leak.... Why are the liberal journalists covering for Rove? Just doesn't add up.
