Hearing on Fox News
The pundits keep saying that he wants to nominate a "first" type justice...like the "first" hispanic...
Estrada would be terrific, not Gonzalez
President Bush arrives to make a statement about the retirement of Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O'Connor in the Rose Garden of the White House Friday, July 1, 2005 in Washington. O'Connor, the first woman on the Supreme Court and a swing vote on abortion as well as other contentious issues, announced her retirement Friday. And last week's ruling gave us more ammunition. President Bush has a tendancy to let the little things look like "losses" and then, when it is really, really important, win convincingly in a way that nobody was expecting.
To all those who say the GOP is going to cave: They will surprise you. Wait and see.
Tony said he is too old - something like an age factor - 50 or so.
Exactly.
Is John Bolton a lawyer?
Gonzales would be terrific!!!
1973? Watergate? What are you talking about?
Between Anthony Kennedy and Sandy O'Connor you usually have one liberal vote on every case.
She authored the dissent in Kelo v. New London.
That is not even close to conservative. That is a moderate position. Even liberals were outraged by the extreme left's re-write of the 5'th Amendment.
Ted is at least 60 years old. I like him, but hope POTUS can find a 45 year old Scalia/Thomas.
What an idiot you are
Emilio Garza of the 5th Circuit should be picked. We really don't know as much about Estrada.
You don't think this happens all the time? Heck -- New York Congressman Charles Rangel recently voted against a bill to re-institute the draft -- even after he himself had sponsored the bill in the first place!
LOL. I will try not to slap you but since I am female, I have more leeway than you do {assuming you are male}. I would like to pinch occasionally. And sulk. And quit cooking.
Age fifty (50) would be wonderful, but Ted Olsen is 60 or better.
OK. You're not perfect. Your geography is worse than mine!
My expectation is that he'll appoint somebody who will subordinate the Constitution to WTO rules and regulations.
And I, like you, can't imagine Bush nominating anybody that I couldn't agree with; he's smarter than we are.
Yeah... well... I hope your use of "we" doesn't include all of us.
"CaliPornia, Mexico, Afganistan, Iran, Same difference"
Your inanity becomes more and more impressive. Are you off your meds?
