U.S. soldiers brought food and school supplies to residents of the Khadamiyah area in Baghdad.
CAMP TIGERLAND, Iraq, June 30, 2005 The 256th Brigade Combat Team Civil Affairs and the 256th Brigade Combat Teams 199th Forward Support Battalion collaborated on June 25 to bring 15 tons of food, two tons of school supplies, and more than 2,000 Beanie Babies to the residents of the Khadamiyah area in Baghdad. The items were gifts from the Association of Korean Americans and Operation Iraqi Children. The local Government Information Center connected the soldiers with various charity organizations to help distribute the supplies to citizens of Khadamiyah and Sadr City.
Everything went well. It was a large task, but we made it happen, U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Gilbert Matthews
U.S. Army Maj. Adam Shilling from Denham Springs, La., 256th Brigade Combat Team civil affairs officer, said the food packs are designed for emergency situations, and he wanted to make sure the less-fortunate citizens in the district were taken care of in case one should arise.
Each pack weighs five tons and includes rice, beans, spaghetti, cooking oil, noodles, and canned goods, he said.
It took about a week to coordinate the project, and Shilling said U.S. soldiers from A Company, 199th Forward Support Battalion picked up the

Need to read this story.
The (bleep) NY Slimes, and the rest of the legacy media should report more of this type of thing...the bastards.
If your plan is to have the American people turn against the war and to believe that a significant number of our military are depraved killers and torturers, you just can't muddle up the message with this sort of thing.
Propaganda? Nope, just ensuring "balance" in reporting.
Good story bump.
Great story. Got it out to some other friends.
Thanks
Welcome to FR. Swing by the Freeper Canteen for a little relaxation. This is Thurdays http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1433588/posts and every day is different.
Rumsfeld and staff should start EVERY Pentagon press briefing by reading a story like this, have visuals behind them on a screen, and hand out a CD-ROM of the story and visuals to the press. Any press organization that doesn't print/broadcast the story and at least one visual loses their pass to attend future briefings.
I like it!
Very nice story, thanks.
Hmmm the United States government giving away tons of food to muslims thousands of miles away while I am paying for my breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks + tax. Nice.
This is great. I'm so sorry that the rest of America doesn't get to read this stuff.
Did you bother to read the article? Those were gifts from the American people who paid for and gathered them themselves. Obviously more generous Americans than you though.
Now this is the ticket. Excellent idea.

Thanks, Sand.....and for the hankie alert. Now if only the MSM would print some of these stories.
Those military personnel are on my payroll no? I pay them to kill not to give away food.
Well, I'm sure they'll be glad to return your 15 cents
He said: "I pay them to kill not to give away food."
You said: " Well, I'm sure they'll be glad to return your 15 cents"
My question: If we both send him a quarter, will he stop saying things like that. ;-)
Granted, the military is best at breaking things and killing people, but this time, the best way to break the support of the Jihadistan terrorists in Iraq is to help the rest of the people of iraq.
Plus it really gives our troops a boost in moral to do things like this, and it's really making a difference. Notice that they're giving away food in Sadar City.
