36 Best Free TCP Settings Tweaker Whether you use a modem or broadband, you'll get a faster connection if you tweak your connection's TCP parameters. Among the most important of these is MaxMTU which, in simple terms, needs to be set to the largest value possible without your data being broken up into smaller chunks en-route.This works pretty good too if you already have installed and use Cable Nut, choose your Windows OS from the sidebar menu at the front page (98/ME/XP/2K), then choose your connection type, click "compute settings" and download the CCS file to open in Cable Nut and add the values to the registry, reboot,.... voila... your connection is now optimized : http://www.j79zlr.com/

I was sold on Spysweeper after having set up this laptop for a lady in town. I tried it out for myself and really liked it. Picked up alot of stuff Spybot S&D (which I had been using, updated frequently) didn't even see.

Thanks for the ping! What do you think of Symantic acquiring Phoenix labs? Symantic won't carry their forum with the transfer and is going to shut down the Peerguardian community.
I like Peerguardian, but it's been troublesome to keep my IP list up to date as of late.

I was a big fan of Symantec, even after they acquired the Norton products, but I ditched both after they started charging yearly fees for updates even for a paid-for product.
Netscape did this with their browser after version 3.02 (the best browser of that time), charging $50 to upgrade. Hence IE took over the browser environment. Netscape stopped charging, but it was too little too late.

Thanks for posting. I have a problem that is driving me crazy and hope maybe one of these will cure it. IE has been hijacked and I can't get rid of the problem. I have switched to Firefox and the problem has ceased, but I hate leaving the problem to reside on my machine. I won't list everything I have used to in my quest, but there are a few new one cleaners here that I will try.

HijackThisThen there is an online tutorial on how to use the program. This program specifically takes care of browser hijackings and spyware. Read through the online manual first, and make a backup of your registry before and after you run this program.

Thanks for the links. I had used HJT and sent the log off twice for anlaysis with no luck. The tutorial led me to: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ which walked me through two more steps. First, I had an older version of HJT and then they sent me to Vundofix.exe which cleaned my registry. So far I have been using IE 6.0 this morning for at least three hours with not a problem.
