PRESS RELEASE
Supreme Court Rules Government can seize your home
ALEXANDRIA , VA The American Conservative Union, the nation's oldest and largest Conservative grass roots organization, sharply condemned todays highly controversial 5-4 Supreme Court ruling that local governments may use eminent domain to take peoples homes and businesses and turn them over to private developers.
The case, titled Kelo et al v. City of New London, was brought by homeowners in New London, Connecticut where officials plan to tear down a neighborhood community near the Thames river to make way for an office complex. City planners, backed by the liberal National League of Cities, argued that throwing the homeowners off their property would create jobs and generate more tax revenue for the city. Many of the affected citizens have deep roots in their community, including a married couple in their 80s who have lived in the same home for more than 50 years.
"It is outrageous to think that the government can take away your home any time it wants to build a shopping mall, said ACU Chairman David Keene. "Todays Supreme Court ruling is a slap in the face to property owners everywhere.
The Institute for Justice, a public interest law firm committed to protecting property rights, estimates that over 10,000 homes nationwide are in danger of being destroyed by aggressive local governments. The Kelo ruling sets a precedent that officials may proceed with their plans to seize the homes of private citizens to foster whatever they conceive to be the common good and generate more tax income to fuel big government spending programs.
Liberal, activist judges will continue to violate the rights of individuals in favor of big government and special interests, continued Keene. To help protect property rights, Americans must push for a fair, originalist judge to be appointed to the Supreme Court when the next vacancy arises.

Which party will win the foot-draggin race over the action to be taken as a result of this? I pick the RATS. They'd much rather defend the "rights" of terorists than US citizens, any day.

1- an unaccountable Judiciary.
2- whose life is it, anyway? Yours, or someone else's?
3- whose Country is it?
There are other vital issues, of course- but these three will determine just who we really are as a nation.
And .. as usual my dear friend .. you have hit the nail on the head.
I've been reading "Men in Black" - very interesting book. It sure points out how much information WAS NEVER TAUGHT to our children during the last few years.
They are freaking out over on DU. They don't seem to get the inconsistancies of the liberal position.
For years the Demos have been fighting to take away individual rights and subordinate people to the government, all in the name of protecting them with the nanny state. They can't figure out why the liberal justices have done this. As my liberal sister said, "We ARE the government. People need to be regulated".
Now they find they are being regulated out of all their freedoms. They are trying to find comfort in that many of the liberal justices were put in place by Republicans. Believe me, if the pubbies knew Souder was as liberal as he is, he would never have been put in there. And Ruthie is their baby.
Unbelievably bad news. Property rights are the cornerstone of this country. It also blows my mind about DU, they are shocked the the four most conservative justices were the ones against this. Sometimes I feel like this whole country could use a refresher on politics and government 101, and the stances of the politic parties, and the political systems of totalitarian states.
Print it. Study it. And pass it along. And pray it's not already to late to turn back the hellish tide of socialism that is sweeping across our nation at an ever-increasing pace.
