China 'is more popular' than US

America's image is still so tattered abroad after the Iraq war that China is viewed more favourably than the US in many countries, a global poll finds.

Its image has not recovered in Western European countries, the US-based Pew Research Center found.

In none of the 16 countries surveyed, the US included, does a majority of the public think the war leading to Saddam Hussein's removal made the world safer.

But hostility towards the US has eased in some parts of the Muslim world.

"It's amazing when you see the European public rating the United States so poorly, especially in comparison with China," said Andrew Kohut, director of the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, which carried out the survey.

China is well considered in Europe and Asia, although there is considerable wariness about its growing economic and military power.

Solid majorities in every European nation except Turkey would not like to see China rival the US as a military superpower, the survey said.

"It's amazing when you see the European public rating the United States so poorly, especially in comparison with China,..."

Amazing? After EU leaders have spent their entire terms in office bad mouthing Americans, I would be surprise if they did like us. AMAZING would be the EU developing a positive thought, and do some good in the world.

Message to Europeans: Keep pretending that you matter, and stay out of our way!

It's not just a popularity contest. You have to have a strategy that's a little deeper than that. I'm pretty confident that America won't be voted off the island this week.

The BBC has an affinity for the Turd World's opinions...

They spend so much time with their head in the toilets, everything they come up with is predictably..........shitty!

The chattering classes perform another fake survey to impress themselves.

What's the topic of their next survey? 'Are Christian fundamentalists the reason for unrest in the world?' 'Should America give $100 billion or $1000 billion to help Africa?'

If Europe is believing more than 1% of this nonsense, then they are beyond hope.

Who gives a rhino's rear end what people think of the US globally? Go to China and take the UN with you.

Polling here in the US shows we don't care if China and the EU merely sleep together or get married.

A Note From DefiantZERO to the BBC:

Your programming sucks, and you have to have the Government tax people for owning a TV, so that they can then go sign up for Sky to watch DECENT television, just to keep you afloat. Forgive me for not giving anything with your name on it much thought.

On topic: Iraq doesn't tarnish America's name, whiny Eurocrats do.

America is more popular in China than it is in America.

America would not be less popular if it nuked the ME and moved in to take the oil.

Then how come you don't see millions of immigrants trying to get into China?

Socialists have never much cared for civil and financial freedoms of individuals. Their hatred stems from bitter jealousy of our relative wealth and freedom.

People from all over the world are busting down fences to get into China!!

How about this question for a poll...

Where would you rather live?

China or the USofA?

I'll bet that poll would show a "slight" shift towards America.

A tsunami!!

If the gasoline glowed in the dark, we wouldn't need to light a match to check the level in the tank. Bonus!

A billion Indians don't agree - they like US a heck of a lot more than China. And a billion Indians is more than the population of all those other countries put together.
