WASHINGTON - Under fire from Republicans and some fellow Democrats, Sen. Dick Durbin apologized Tuesday for comparing American interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to Nazis and other historically infamous figures.
“Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line,” the Illinois Democrat said. “To them I extend my heartfelt apologies.”
His voice quaking and tears welling in his eyes, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate also apologized to any soldiers who felt insulted by his remarks.
“They’re the best. I never, ever intended any disrespect for them,” he said.
The Senate should sponsor a "great cry-off competition.

I didn't actually hear Durbin's tear-choked apology. How does his crying compare to Voinovich's?

I condemn HIM for making those remarks. I despise having a man as low as he is in the United States Senate. He needs to resign. He makes me sick.
The funny thing about that video is how Tony Campolo keeps on yacking and yucking it up after Clinton switches to "mourning" mode.

In this case, I think it was tears of self-pity rather than remorse. Little Dickie Durban has about as much love of country as Al Frankenswine.
Notice that Turd Durbin did NOT say HE thought he went over the line....
This is no apology, and shouldn't be accepted as one..
He is simply acknowledging he offended some folks....

Dickie D., Voinovich both crying for something they said? What a bunch of weak-kneed girlie men!! Do they think crying while excusing themselves - Dickie did not apologize for lying - makes everything OK? God help us.

When you make a prepared statement on the Senate floor the weight of the message is much greater than an off-the-cuff remark made on a radio show.

Hey let's look at this another way.
The Dems are on the ropes and they know any more holes in their armor will shatter their chances for anything. So his crying is sortof like a portrait of their whole party.....they can't win so now they will just cry.
"You're crying? There's no crying in Gitmo you pansy-ass wuss!!! Now get out of my sight and go and tinkle sitting down..."
