Dick Durbin Crying?
http://www.littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/weblog.php

WASHINGTON - Under fire from Republicans and some fellow Democrats, Sen. Dick Durbin apologized Tuesday for comparing American interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to Nazis and other historically infamous figures.

“Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line,” the Illinois Democrat said. “To them I extend my heartfelt apologies.”

His voice quaking and tears welling in his eyes, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate also apologized to any soldiers who felt insulted by his remarks.

“They’re the best. I never, ever intended any disrespect for them,” he said.

Will he go to Gitmo and offer to be a guard for a month or two...and serve at the lowest rank doing the dirtiest jobs
to show his support?
That is a VERY excellent idea..Good work bro..
Sadly , unless we keep the push on this all will blow over..The MSM will make sure of that ..We can't let it happen..I emailed 4 senators without a single reply..Emails dont do it.

"They're lamenting the fact that only Conyers and Boxer are willing to stand up for the "true" democrats."

Then the DUmmies are doomed. Conyers is the one who had the fake teaparty/"hearing" on the equally fake Downing St. memo, and Boxer's website is congratulating herself on supporting the "apology" for failing to pass anti-lynching legislation 50 years ago (when it was filibustered by the Dems,I might add). They're both a waste of time.

POWERLINE BLOG has a letter from Col. Joe Repya, a soldier's soldier from my town, who has a suggestion for the Strib's lunatics:

As a soldier in Iraq, I was highly insulted by the comments of Senator Durbin and his pathetic excuse of being "misunderstood." So I offer a suggestion. Let's divide up these victims of "the hellhole America's military has created" at Guantanamo and allow them to spend a weekend at the homes of the Star Tribune Editorial Staff and Senator Durbin. America's military will anxiously await the report on the impression they will make on you and your families.

Our military and their loved ones is spending precious blood, sweat and tears and now are insulted daily on the floors of Congress while the Republicans can't get even find their way out of the CLOTURE CLOSET.

There are even democrats sons and daughters out there fighting for our freedom. That might wake a few of them up and they may realize that their party is anti-US and anti-military as well. Keep it up turbin durbin. My lack of capitaliazation is intentional.

"If there's a fourth explanation, let me know."

The Democrats see President Bush as a weak leader and they are jumping all over him at every opportunity. They misread his civility for a lack of spine.

Well, the truth is politics is a bloody business, and the Prez needs to get out there and rebuke these hacks. If Bush does not call these four flushers for what they are, then History might say that he was a weak leader. Nice polite guy, weak leader.

Doesn't have to be that way.

Yes, and Mayor Daley's son is one of them.

It didn't take long from the time Daley said he should apologize until he went out and did so. The crying was probably over how close he came to being cut off from the Daley Crime Machine's money supply.

Talk about an offer you can't refuse.

"They misread his civility for a lack of spine."
That is what they think.
I contend it shows our President's great strength.
He'll continue to be civil in an attempt to bring the opposition around, while doing what he thinks is right, regardless of the opposition.

LOL, well the house isn't much better, you had Bill Thomas the other month howling about bringing the police in on the dems. LOL

Remeber Torreclli, or maybe it was the other corrupt jersey senator, forget his name, yelling at the top of his lungs "I NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER accepted some bribe"
Turns out he got convicted for it (I believe or some slap on the wrist type punishemnt)

What a bunch of jokers they are up there.

To compare Congress to drunken sailors is an insult to drunken sailors.

How about we act like men, shall we?

I doubt Durbin reads Free Republic. You should email him directly.

'"To crush our enemies. To see them driven before us. And to hear the lamentations of their women!" ~ From "Conan The Barbarian"'

I believe Genghis Khan said something along the same lines far before Conan came into the picture.

Durban just makes me sick. Somebody should go knock some sense into him.
