The Island is 6 to 7 miles deep by about 20 miles long

B-1 = California Lighthouse - where the boys claim they took her first after leaving the Bar.

D-3 = #4 is the location of the 2 Marriott Hotels - where the 2 brothers (and now Joran) claim they dropped Joran and Natalee off after leaving the lighthouse -  the 2 brothers claim they went home to Hooiberg after that.

D-3 = #19 is the location of the Holiday Inn where Natalee was staying.

G-5 = Where the red #2 marker is pointing to is the area that the Carlos & Charlie Bar is located

D-4 = Township of Montana is where Joran lives

F-7/8 = Hooiberg (Haystack Mountain) - The 2 Kalpoe brothers live in this area at the foot of the Haystack Mountian.

C-9 = By the Natural Bridge on the map is the location where the sharks hang out as they are fed at this location. This is the Shark Infested Feeding Area.

E-3 = Wetland in the Bird Sanctuary is the location where they found the Condoms/Condom Wrappers - Duct Tape (looked like black electrical tape to me) - Female Flowered Panties - and a String or Strap from a Bikini or Halter Top.

When I was a teenager working summers on Martha's Vineyard, it was common for kids to hitchhike everywhere on that island. That was some time ago, so don't know if it's still the case.

Seems as though Jug wants it all. Just last week he called Joran's father a slimeball on or something of that nature, showed up at their home at 3:00 am with a posse from Alabama demanding answers and now this week he wants him out looking for Natalie and wearing a bracelet. Until I knew all the facts regarding my son's involvement, I would be furious with the accusations being made against my family, and so would everyone else if the situation were reversed, betcha even Jug would be a little fired up.

I was thinking the same thing watching Jug. Now, don't get me wrong...if I was in his position, I'd be nuts as well.

However, if the tables were turned, and a group of foreigners just popped over to Jug's house at 4:00 am demanding to speak to his son about a girl's disapearance, I imagine that the senario would have played out similarly....except that Jug, being a true American, would have likely told the group to f-off, and they would have lawyered up by 4:15 am....

I agree about keeping the news here. I thought about this last night and this morning. Many people just read these threads and don't post, it wouldn't be fair to the 99% who are not thread bashers to take it to a private group. We are all very interested in this simply because we feel so terribly sorry for Natalee's parents. It's heartbreaking to watch Beth handing out posters, prayer cards and bracelets for Natalee.

I've seen this happen before where one instigator can ruin a long running thread.

TK, I meant to thank you yesterday for taking the time to get the news articles and ping us every day, but I didn't get a chance. I will be off line until this evening, so please keep me posted if anything new comes up.

Citizen, that post wrt Joran's Mother was beautiful. She is clearly a fragile person on the edge. IF Joran was involved, she will be horrified and crushed beyond repair, IMO.

Rip, all you had to do was come back on and apologize for calling Nat's Mother a b#tch. That's all. Most of us have at (one time or another) been on the receiving end of "flames". No big deal. But, Rip, can you see how hypocritical it is to call Nat's Mom rude when you display the same behavior? It's still not too late..for an apology.

To me, the interview last night in the VDS home was telling.

The mother is shell-shocked. She sees her husband's future position as a judge probably in ruins. Her son is in jail. He may be a murderer or an accessory. She's a teacher and is most likely on leave right now from her job. Maybe permanently. Her comfortable life on an idyllic island is shattered. More than likely, her husband is telling her nothing. While she is obviously educated, she appears rather provincial and unsophisticated to me.....a Dutch hausfrau impaled upon the fickle finger of fate.

Shortly after she starts the interview, the phone conveniently rings. Her husband, Paulus, leaves to answer it. I do not see him return to her side. She continues on with the interview.

She becomes very upset and emotional regarding her son. She frequently pauses due to tears and eye-dabbing.

All this may have been an act, but I'm inclined to think it was genuine emotion from a frightened woman and an anxious mother very much in the dark.....staunchly defending her family as best she can. At the least, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

However, here is the important part. After departing from his wife's side due to the convenient phone call, Paulus does not come back to her. What loving husband with a clear conscience wouldn't immediately return to her side, to support her, to hold her hand, to put an arm around her, to figuratively wipe away her tears?

IMO, due to his noticeable absence, he comes off to me as a coward hiding behind his wife's skirts, plus a man whose desire to conceal something and not answer questions overrides the natural feelings of a loving husband.

He leaves the wife (and mother of his son) to ride out the emotional and stressful interview by herself.

I cannot conceive how Paulus will ever become a judge. If he does, heaven help the Arubian judicial system, such as it is.

I feel sorry for both the mothers in this tragedy.

AvdS was on the Today show this morning. I caught part of it. She appeared alone, sans PvdS. Again she defended her son, (understandable). JvdS was accepted to six or seven colleges, good "sporter," etc. He's not arrogant at all, he's tall and confident. He followed house rule and has good morals. (hmmmm)
