Durbin's "Silent Scream"

Durbin’s “Silent Scream”

In a cornfield last year, a group of citizens gathered to select their candidate for the 2004 Democratic Convention. This happened in dozens of farms and homes and meeting places all over the state. Their final decision? John Kerry.

The losing candidate was someone who was the prohibitive front runner all of 2003. It was a shoe-in.

But there was only one problem. The citizens of Iowa chose someone else.

To Howard Dean in must’ve been a shock. Leading all the way for a year, only to be slapped upside the head with a cheap right. He fell, stumbled, got back up, and uttered the scream heard ‘round the political universe.

It was at the end of a “concession” speech/rally. He started off relatively slowly. Like those classic speeches by Heir Shickelgruber. But he built up to a crescendo. Naming each state that he was going to win. With each state a louder scream, and clenched fist in the air. And eyes that became angrier with each utterance. Until the final climax. “Yeaaaaaagggggghhhhhhh!”

It stunned the nation. All hope of him becoming president of the United States ended at that moment. It took a few days for it to sink in, but sink in it did.

He knew it. We knew it.

And in the end it was true. Howard Dean lost all hope of recovering from the loss of the Iowa Caucus that night. With that glimpse into his inner psyche we saw the person he really was.

And his party said ‘No thanks.”

Yesterday, Sen. Dick Durbin (D - IL), stood on the floor of the United States Senate and said the following: “ ‘On a couple of occasions, I entered interview rooms to find a detainee chained hand and foot in a fetal position to the floor, with no chair, food or water. Most times they urinated or defecated on themselves, and had been left there for 18–24 hours or more. On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. . . . On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor.’

If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime—Pol Pot or others— that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.”

Boom. There it is.

It’s a creeper. One that’ll take a few days. But he won’t be able to escape it. It will haunt him all of his political career. And life. American treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay reminiscent of Pol Pot and Nazi treatment of their prisoners.

You can read it in his own words. It is now part of the record of the U.S. Senate.

He can try to spin it, but it just won’t spin. Just like Howard Dean tried to spin. Even bringing his reluctant wife to appear before cameras to say how normal he was. And how he never got angry at her. How he really didn’t have a temper problem.

But by then it was too late. The world heard it with their own ears. And no matter how hard they tried - they just couldn’t minimize it. It was the end of any Presidential ambitions for Dean.

And Senator Durbin’s comparison of United States military personnel treatment of detainees to the Nazis and Pol Pot and Stalin’s gulags, will, in my opinion, stick to Dick Durbin forever. Just as sure as ten dimes will buy a dollar.

This was Durbin’s “Dean” moment.

The MSM will try to ignore it, as it does often when something bad happens to a Democrat. But those days are over when it really mattered what they did. The genie of a true free press is out of the bottle. And you can’t put it back.

This dastardly Durbin dead will go down in infamy.

A United States Senator stood on the floor of the Senate, and compared American treatment of prisoners to the Nazis, Pol Pot and Stalin.

This while the armed forces of the United States are engaged in battle in the middle of a war.

If there ever was a time to bring someone up on the charge of sedition; giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States during a time of war; then this is that time.

But don’t count on it. Because if they did they would have to charge half of Hollywood, parts of the MSM and most radical left wing politicians. It says something about Dick Durbin when even the most radical Democrats like Boxer, Pelosi, Schumer and Reid have enough common sense not to make statements like that from the floor of the United States Senate.

Words spoken by elected representatives and senators have a seriousness and gravity when spoken from the floor of their respective chambers. Words that are heard ‘round the world. And picked up by people who could use them to not only demoralize our troops, but more importantly, to encourage the sworn enemies of the United States of America.

Last I heard, Al Jazeera was showing clips of Sen. Durbin’s speech all day.

Let’s hope they at least title it “Durbin’s Silent Scream.”

"This will tar the whole party."

It sure will, unless they finally quit cowering in the corners and come out strongly against him.

Chillingly Truthful.

Color me dense, but when I finally saw Dean's Scream on TV, I didn't think it was that bad. I mean, I didn't see it as any more looney than he otherwise is.

As to Durbin, I'm hard pressed to understand all the commotion, as I've been hearing similar anti-American crap spouted by 'Rat socialists for years.

Other that I'm relieved that the country finally sees the light, what was the big deal about Dean's Scream and Dacha Durbin's Silent Scream?

Excellent first post, Wheel Maker!

Dog, thanks for pinging me!

The longer this goes on without the Rats rebuking Durbin, the worse their whole party looks.
