Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Seems to me that the investigation should have been done BEFORE she died.

Must be at least partly because of what is in Mark Fuhrman's book, Silent Witness, about to hit the bookstores.

I wish this story would die. This was why Congress is getting such a bad rep. This story has been going on too long and I thought it would end with the unfortunate demise of Terri.

There is much bigger fish to fry atm.

Terri Schiavo's death was absolutely unneccessary and I commend Jeb Bush for not letting this case just fade away, and thus giving the pro-death camp a huge victory without a bitter fight.

They should also ask for a civil injunction, (damages), against Michael Schiavo, who caused Terri Schiavo's parents, siblings and loved ones an unconscionable amount of emotional pain and suffering for so many years.

It was done with O.J. after he beat the murder rap, and just might be worth a try. If nothing else it will drag that sub-human worm of a 'husband' through a living hell and perhaps balance the scales a bit.

"It's absolutely preposterous,'' Felos said. "If he had waited 70 minutes she would have been dead.''

Uhhh, here's a flash for you, 'Gordon' Felos - she is dead.

This should have been investigated at the time. I can't say I'm sorry to see it now, though.

Her best friend says that Michael and Terri had a big fight the day of her death, to the point of she didn't want her to go home. Michael was a little of a control freak, checking her odometer, etc. Terri had discussed divorcing him with her friend.

This was begging for an investigation. I don't understand why one wasn't done at the time.

Was Micheal a respiratory tech at this time? I am not clear on that.

Interesting... If Schiavo had a part in this, then why didn't he just go ahead and kill her before the ambulance arrived? It appears, from what I've read, that it wouldn't have taken much effort nor would it have left physical evidence. Why would he permit even the remote chance that she might live if he wanted her dead? If he was clever enough to set all this up, then why wasn't he clever enough to plan to mention the same time each time he was interviewed?

"Wonder if this has a chance in Florida?"

Dunno, but I doubt it, since there is so much buddy-buddy corruption in the state, esp. Pinellas Co.

BTW, here's another thread with the same story. The comments on that thread turned into a Bush-bash, too. Check my post # 32.

I'm sorry, but this is pandering and as far as I'm concerned this matter is closed. The autopsy showed that Michael Schiavo was not guilty of murder. If anything, he was trying to do what was medically allowable in cases where the patient had no chance of recovery. Jeb Bush-and some of the people who are supporting this-need to learn to let go.

If it weren't for Democrats like Dick Durbin, the GOP would implode over the continuation of this BS.

What is the carry through? There was a murder. Normally hustice is not measured by desired outcome. Here that is not the case. There was a murder, the murderers -- for the sake of justice -- should be brought to account.

NOW Jeb Bush wants an investigation. It should have been done long ago.

Nevertheless, there are lots of things in the Terri Schiavo case that need to be fixed. Someone with as massive a conflict of interest as Michael Schiavo should have been removed as her guardian right from the start. There should be mandatory investigations when someone collapses. There need to be better criteria for determining "death." In Florida in particular, the law defining food and water as "extraordinary means" should be repealed. Hydration and nutrition, even through a feeding tube, are "ordinary" means, and should be continued until the body can no longer digest the food. (My first wife was on a feeding tube and on a ventilator when she died. The first constitutes "ordinary" care; the second constitutes "extraordinary" care and might legitimately have been stopped.)

Definition of "death" is tricky. Beware of so-called "brain death." Different hospitals have different definitions. Moreover, none of the definitions have any empirical or scientific basis. They were invented to allow hospitals to cut you apart for "spare parts" while you are still living. If they wait until your brain waves stop completely, it's too late to "harvest" usable organs, except for the corneas. See the paper by Dr. Paul Byrne at http://www.prolifetechnology.org.

Also, beware of "living wills." The one provided by NOLO (a self-help legal advice firm) is totally biased in the direction of asking to be killed. If you sign it, you are saying you don't want anything done to keep you alive. There are undoubtedly people who want such a living will, such as members of the Hemlock Society. Most of us, however, would rather have doctors use "ordinary means" to keep us alive until they no longer work. Various organizations provide "wills to live" and other forms of "advanced directive" or "medical power of attorney" that are more life-oriented.

Good for Jeb. I hope this news is making that creep squirm, and if not squirm, at the very least he's so infuriated that he can't see straight.

The Felos euthanasia lawyer's office (Francine - press agent of Felos) is putting this out to all media - notice the disparity in Schiavo's times -

P R E S S R E L E A S E
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SCHIAVO RESPONDS TO GOVERNOR

DUNEDIN, FLORIDA, June 18, 2005-Calling Governor Bush's request for an investigation an "outrage," Michael Schiavo states, "I have consistently said over the years that I didn't wait but 'ran' to call 911 after Terri collapsed." As to the time of the 911 call Mr. Schiavo states that, "I wasn't wearing a watch or looking at a clock and I have stated in my sworn testimony that 'I'm not good with dates and times, like I told you before' " [January 24, 2000 testimony]

As the following show, Mr. Schiavo has never stated an exact time of Terri's collapse:
"Q That was the early morning when you woke up to Terri's collapse?
A Correct.

Q …you found her after her heart attack on the floor about 5:00 in the morning…is that right?
A Correct." [direct and cross examination from November 5, 1992 malpractice trial]

"Q …tell me what occurred on February 25, 1990?
A I got home late from work that night…A few hours later I heard this thud. So I ran out into the hall and I found Terri on the floor…I turned her over going, 'Terri, Terri. You okay?' I laid her down and ran over and called 911." [January 24, 2000 testimony]

"Q What happened Michael on February 25, 2005?
A …I came home around 2:00 in the morning, climbed into bed…I'd say about 4:30 in the morning…I head a thud in the hall. I raced out there and Terri was laying in the hall. I rolled her over and she was lifeless…I ran over, I called 911" [October 27, 2003 statement on Larry King Live]

"Her husband heard a bang about 6a.m. and found his wife on the floor with difficulty breathing…and unresponsive. The paramedics were called right away…" [February 25, 1990 admitting records from Humana Hospital-Northside]

As all of the above information has been on the record for years, and never made an issue, Mr. Schiavo asserts that this newly created non-issue "is meant to deflect attention from the fact that the Medical Examiner's report has shown the Schindlers' claims and Governor's position to be untrue." "It is sickening that the Schindlers and Governor Bush, for their own selfish reasons, want to keep this case going."

Noting that almost everyone realizes that remembering exact times from fifteen years ago is impossible, Mr. Schiavo concludes, "For sensible people the autopsy report gave closure in this case. I hope that everyone can finally put this matter behind them."

IMO, this is a political move to clear Michael Schiavo's name which will absolve Charlie Crist, Sheriff Rice, Judge Greer, Judge Baird, Judge Shames, Judge Whittemore, the 11th Circuit, the Fla Supremes, Hospice, Medicaid, Felos, Bushnell, et al of any wrongdoing.

He's doing this to help Charlie Crist run for governor. Crist was in a coverup from day one. He can't possibly win next year if Michael Schiavo isn't cleared because Crist is Florida's AG, chief law enforcement officer. Crist was derelict in his duty to investigate the corruption in Pinellas County, Crist's home county.

Thanks for posting this. That is what's so damned frustrating over this case. This should have been investigated BEFORE she was dehydrated to death. That is all the parents wanted. That is all they have ever wanted was some justice. This sickens me still and breaks my heart for Terry. God Bless her little heart!!

OJ trial or not, I love Mark Fuhrman and the work he does. Go Mark!!
