A recent poll reveals that only 35 percent of adults believe the United States is on the right track under President Bush's leadership. The media, some say, might have contributed to Bush's low ratings, while others disputed the accuracy of the poll.
The phone poll, conducted by Ipsos for the Associated Press from June 6 through June 8, surveyed 1,001 adults, 854 of which were registered voters. Forty percent of those surveyed said they were Republicans, and 50 percent Democrats. The largest age group, 31 percent, was between the ages of 18-34.
"This is a closely divided nation, and the poll does not accurately reflect that," Danny Diaz, the Republican National Committee's Deputy Communications Director, told Cybercast News Service.
When asked if the media is responsible for the public's opinion of President Bush, Diaz said that it is "difficult to glean any conclusion from a poll that doesn't accurately reflect the demographic makeup in this country."

We need to keep chipping away at the MSM's "coloring" of the facts. Good for the GOP!

No one polled me.
They need to poll more white christians.
Forty percent of those surveyed said they were Republicans, and 50 percent Democrats.

That alone makes the poll suspect to me.
I think the country's on the wrong track, and I bet even a majority of Freepers would agree, but we all voted for Bush.
What track should we be on?
I thought there were some Kerry voters here in Freeper(not the trolls)
I would have voted for Bush had I been of legal age to do so.

I was not polled either and I absolutely LOVE GW.
Rasmussen - who was accurate in 2004 - is also recording low numbers.
The bigger issue is: who cares? The old cliche is true - the only poll that counts is the one taken on election day. And we're well over a year away from the next election.
The polls on right track/wrong track are meaningless vis-a-vis the President. Most will respond that we are on the wrong track because they take into consideration social factors that they find "wrong" - raunchy entertainment coming from Hollywood, sexualization of young people, bad TV, drug abuse, filthy rappers, degradation of people of faith, lousy schools, etc.
Remember that the so-called "exit polls" had Kerry winning on election eve in November, right before President Bush won by 3.5 million votes. Poll results are useless. The questions are designed to get the "desired" outcome, the sampling techniques are suspect, and many people refuse to participate because they don't trust the pollsters. Answering polls appeals to people with low wattage.
Yes IPSOS is french and french opinion leaders and "opinion
makers" are socialists(CHIRAC is against free trade and very kind with tyrannies in the world)and bad losers!
They don't forgive the success of USA in the world for freedom!

I'm with you. The 800-pound gorilla in these polls is illegal immigration over the southern border, and all its implications for national security and domestic society.
Our society is suffering a moral implosion, the immigration problem is out of hand, the Supreme Court hands down new decisions destroying our constitutional order every day, and Democrats are working fiercely to divide the country with hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric. I think the country's headed way, way in the wrong direction.
It doesn't mean I don't support Bush.
*cough* illegal immigration *cough*
I think you're right. Illegal immigration is rapidly becoming the biggest threat we face, both economically and in terms of security and it is becoming painfully obvious the neither President Bush nor Congress is going to do anything about it.
But what's worse, the democrats actually encourage it.
