As recently suggested, here's a thread to allow FReepers to post (if they want to) how they voted on this poll, why, etc. Let's keep it civil! :)
My family members that faught in WW2 always stated to me "I am afraid your generation has yet to understand the sacrifices made for your freedom." "You have not even seen a threat to your freedom up until 9/11.
They are right
I think one of the final blows to freedom, was Klintoons closing (oh, excuse me, the Secret Service's) of Pennsylvania Avenue, in response to the Oklahoma City bombing.
Osama saw what it cost us then, and placed his bets...
It is imponderable what the monetary cost has been to date, much less the wasted time, and bare feet crap in the airports...
Just the Penn Ave closing cost literally millions of lost hours, and wasted fuel, by redirecting traffic two blocks east...
Yep, Osama won! The Politicians are just playing for their fans...
I don't like their sport!
Remember what you said here ten years from now when China comes to take us out for having WMD.
I don't care if you have a gun. I'll make sure mine is bigger and I'm a better shot. I'll keep you under the threat of me using mine if you ever so much as load yours.
Remember in 1986, when President Ronald Reagan wanted to bomb Libya in retaliation for terrorism against citizens of the U.S., you could count on me to do that.
Your whole country would be glass, nothing would be moving because you loaded your WMD and threatened America. There would be no UN discussions, none of that nonsense. Threaten America and you will have made your last mistake. So sure, brag about all your weapons of mass destruction, just don't play with them.
REALLY? The only attack on US soil was 9/11 and that was from the Taliban in Afghanistan, an attack that could not be tied to Iraq
Yes, let us think of all the whistleblowers.
There is, for example, this whistleblower who wanted to blow the whistle on government shenanigans at Los Alamos Nuclear Lab:
And yet you trust the government to do the right thing with the Patriot Act.
Threaten America and you will have made your last mistake.
Think also of all the potential whistleblowers who get intimidated into silence. Do you think we know everything that the Clintons were up to?
Then you have an exceptionally poor understanding of the Constitution, and you have absolutely no foresight.
I don't trust ANY of these people with this broad power and it won't stand up to the Constitution.
What more needs to be said?
>>I voted to eliminate it.<<
"I'm leaning in that direction myself. I just haven't decided 100% yet."
Have you made up your mind yet?
"Simultaneously punishing and placating the adherents of Islamic fascism achieve nothing. It is not insults and intolerance that fuel the fires of fascism, it is our appeasement and our own self-abasement that provide fuel for the fire."
There was a time when I thought I had an education that money could not buy, having spent a good portion of my live living in a Muslim country has turned into the curse of Cassandra instead.
As am I. If I can't tweak the choices, I'll have to vote for getting rid of it. Too many scary scenarios possible with the leftist dims, if they get ahold of it.
I am totally enjoying the different responses and reasons...I just love Freepers--they are all so smart!
Me too. This is just the input I wanted. I wanted to hear different explanations from FReepers before I voted.
And not sponsored by those nation states named
An attack against the US doesn't have to be on US soil.
It has to be against something US owned. Attacks on or in other nation states as well as attacks on civilians that have chosen to go into a danger zone are not the responsibility nor concern of the national government
But let just concentrate on the future. What do we do in Iraq now?
Establish your silly democracy. Pat everybody on the back when the job's done. It won't last if the citizens of that nation decide differently, which they more than likely will.
I like the bombs that are going off in Iran and am waiting for them to go off in Syria. If we can knock off those governments, then we will be making buku progress.
You like deaths of innocent civilians? Bloodthirst a bit in overdrive don't you think? And of course, you'll be able to provide Constitutional grounding to 'knock off those governments' won't you? Of course not. But don't let that stop the rambling WOT for you
"If people need convincing to be free, then they probably don't deserve to be." -L. Neil Smith.
We will be reaping osama's whirlwind for decades. He got more than he ever thought he would.
If you agree then why is it necessary for us to fight in Iran and Syria? Let those people change their own government if they want freedom!
This willingness to give up the blood of American soldiers is something that disturbs me. If you have a son who will be on the front lines in those countries then I'll view your post will more respect.
I just find it mystifying that someone with the moniker april15Bendovr would support an even more powerful government over one's life.
Repealed before they use it on all of us.
Here's what they plan for our futures.

Eliminate it.
