Loud shake and rumbling this morning...
And did the President rush out out there? Noooo. That's because he really doesn't care. If Bill Clinton were still president he's be right there johnny on the spot.
In fact I wouldn't be surprised of George Bush didn't cause it with his super duper tippy top secret earthquake initiator.
Do I really need to say sarcasm?
Ah, was out playing wargames all day and missed it.
Anyway, the interesting thing about this quake is that it was apparently on the San Jacinto Fault Zone, and additionally in an area called the "Anza Gap", a portion of the SJFZ which has not ruptured in a larqe quake (and this was not a large quake) since the late 1800s, but the parts NW and SE have.
So, it's basically overdue for about a M 6.5 quake; it's possible this was a foreshock but much more likely it was not.
Such a quake would not be an epic disaster due to the relatively low population of the area.
That was one huge tree! Hope no one was hurt...
Central Orange County here. I felt it just a little bit. No major shaking here.

Yo, Ernest...... Ooops.
What city ....Palm Springs?
I am way down in NW Orange county...
Yes, Palm Springs. Near Mesquite Golf course....
I will never understand how you all can be so calm when the earth is moving under you.
All we get are tornados and hurricanes. (grin)
Hope all are ok.
I used to live at the Mesquite Country Club in 90 and 91 before the market to a huge jump in PS! I wish I still had that place, actually I lived at 505 Farrell Dr.
I lived in Jacksonville Fl for 5 years and I will take earthquakes any day over hurricaines, rain, hot and humid weather...:)
I slept through this one. Although the cat was none too pleased.
