Well, it's done. It has taken me 3 months. basically since the US Army Reserve raised its max age limits to 39. Today I raised my hand and took the Oath, completing my enlistment in the US Army Reserves as a Medic.
I had originally joined the Navy in 1985 but have been out for quite some time.
Following what is going on these days, I wanted to do something. Now that I am in the Reserves, I can start petitioning for temporary Active assignments overseas.
Since I was prior service, instead of boot camp, I only have to do a 4 week transition class and then I will do my Medic school.
I'm pretty excited and wanted to share, and thought that my fellow freepers would forgive the vanity post and hopefully wish me well !
that is all !!

Good for you, the country needs heroes like yourself.
When you said temporary assignments....
I don't know enough, but doesn't the Army dictate where you go and how long temporary is or am I wrong?

I am like you. Joined in 1985, got out finisehd college and came back in. After 14 years of military life I can say that I would do it all over again.
