What Howard Dean REALLY Said. (and why it's more scary than funny)
John K.

Posted on 06/08/2005 5:54:56 PM PDT by jsk10

"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for," former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean told Democrats gathered at a Manhattan hotel, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News. Jan. 29, 2005

Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean on Wednesday defended his recent harsh criticism of Republicans, including his observation that they are "pretty much a white, Christian party." June 8, 2005

I know I'm not the only one to make the link, but I'm not sure everyone is as bothered as I am about this. Howard Dean states unabashedly that he hates Republicans. Fine, absolutely his perogative to hate whoever he wants. Then he characterizes Republicans as "white Christians". Despite the absurdity of the quote (I am exhibit A as to why that quote is so stupid), this guy is the de facto head of one of the two major political parties in the United States. If he hates Republicans and everything they stand for...and states unequivocally that they are made up of Christians, he is stating he hates Christians. Is this a reach? I don't think so. He hates Republicans, Republicans are Christians. His words, not mine.

I can not argue it any better than David Limbaugh's book Persecution, but the idea that the leader of the Democratic Party is so openly hostile to the predominant religion of this country is beyond a partisan argument. It threatens the absolute foundation of of this country, I honestly believe that.

On the flip side, I think Howard Dean actually does promote faith in one way. He is proof that God exists, God has a sense of humor, and that God smiles on Republicans.

Oh, I agree with you, I generally try to not talk politics with her at all. The only time it comes up is when she makes a comment about the President or something she heard on network news. Just like Rush says I only defend.

The sad thing is she is right along with me on a lot of issues, but votes democratic because that's what she's always done, what her parents always did and all of her relatives have done. She won't accept that certain views are republican, and others that the dems used to stand for, they don't anymore.

Ya wanna know what's really funny? The brainiacs over at DU think that all our "thanks for Howie he's the best thing that ever happened to the GOP" rhetoric is just a transparent attempt to use reverse psychology on them. They think Dean makes us quake in our boots, and we've decided among ourselves that the best way to get rid of this terrible threat is to pretend we like them. No I'm not joking.

Much as I love them, our conservative talk radio hosts are doggedly doing their best to get Crazy Howie canned from his DNC chairmanship. Rank and file conservatives even on these threads are doing likewise.

Unfortunately, we may get what we're asking for.....a rational, likeable, effective new chairman, if they can come up with one. I'm sure they could.

It's so delicious to knock Dean right at the moment, now. But later everyone will be kicking themselves if the worst (or best) happens and he's replaced.

(cripeys, I've got mixed emotions over this, myself, LOL).

sometimes we are having so much fun, we dont learn by our mistakes: we drummed Howie off the Dem ticket in 04 (OK so he helped.... a lot! but we still shot ourselves in the foot).

Yeah, the Dims are all negative on christians and their religion, but boy do they love to visit black churches and sing a different tune there. White christians=bad, black christians=good???? Not even subtle about it.

A lib friend firmly believes that W's goal is to turn the US into a theocracy. [roll eyes here]

Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't President Bush had more minorities among his high ranking staff than any other president in history?

I think that the Republican Party has embraced people from all walks of life and from all ethnic backgrounds. Anyone who wants less government interference in their lives and more opportunity to realize the "American Dream" chooses the Republican Party.

I think he seems like a nice guy, too. I have friends who are Democrats and I love them. I don't like their liberal politics, but they are good people who work hard and would do anything they can to help others. They are good Christians, too.

This is one sick minded individual. He is making a fool of himself. I hope one day he wakes up and sees the error of his ways.

One final thought on this.

Replace "Howard Dean" with George Bush.
Replace "Republicans" with "Democrats"
Replace "Christians" with "black people".

Imagine if George Bush said, "I hate Democrats and everything they stand for."
Then said, "The Democrats are a party of black people."

Can you imagine the howls of anger and indignation at the blatently racist statement?

I am not a terribly big fan of John McCain but he got it right when he said: "Howard Dean is the gift that keeps on giving." LOL
