"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for," former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean told Democrats gathered at a Manhattan hotel, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News. Jan. 29, 2005
Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean on Wednesday defended his recent harsh criticism of Republicans, including his observation that they are "pretty much a white, Christian party." June 8, 2005
I know I'm not the only one to make the link, but I'm not sure everyone is as bothered as I am about this. Howard Dean states unabashedly that he hates Republicans. Fine, absolutely his perogative to hate whoever he wants. Then he characterizes Republicans as "white Christians". Despite the absurdity of the quote (I am exhibit A as to why that quote is so stupid), this guy is the de facto head of one of the two major political parties in the United States. If he hates Republicans and everything they stand for...and states unequivocally that they are made up of Christians, he is stating he hates Christians. Is this a reach? I don't think so. He hates Republicans, Republicans are Christians. His words, not mine.
I can not argue it any better than David Limbaugh's book Persecution, but the idea that the leader of the Democratic Party is so openly hostile to the predominant religion of this country is beyond a partisan argument. It threatens the absolute foundation of of this country, I honestly believe that.
On the flip side, I think Howard Dean actually does promote faith in one way. He is proof that God exists, God has a sense of humor, and that God smiles on Republicans.
He just insulted whites, Christians, and Republicans all with one little sentence.
But at least he still likes guys who drive pickup trucks with Confederate flags....
Don't bother the enemy when he is in the process of destroying himself.
Go, Howard, Go!
I don't hate Democrats. Zell Miller seems like a nice guy.
Who's "we?" Otherwise, welcome to FR.
I think that's a reach, but so what? I just hope he keeps saying stupid things like this.
Dean for President/Senator/Representative/DNC Chair/God of the Democratic Universe, whatever. Just keep him in the limelight. It's great for R's.
A few weeks ago he said the democRATS would be competitive in all 50 states. I wonder what states he was talking about?
yeah, it probably is. a little hyperbole can be good for FR. ;<)
Oh, well that's very different... Hating what Dems stand for is not the same as hating Democrats.
"beating around the bush...." Is that supposed to be a pun?
We despise their ideas. "Hate" is imprecise, and some of my best friends are democrats.
Having a liberal friend is like having a friend that's ruining their life with crack. You can try to persuade them, but if they want to self destruct there's no way to stop them.
I don't hate them. I pity them.
The President, VP, nor any Republican leaders speak with the distain, mocking or hatred that the Dems do, never.
And it has been that way for 40 years.
Keep talkin' Howie there are some Christian democrats out there and they hear ya too.
Ecclesiastes 10:2 The wise man's understanding turns him to his right, the fool's understanding turns him to his left.
Let the fool speak, it will be his undoing.
There is no question that Dean hates traditional Christian believers.
