LOL! Clever. That 'as a bonus' comment jumped out at me as well, but you put it to good use.
Well, I think it was cover for Nelson on their side and for Chaffee, McLame, and Snow/Collins on our side not to appear "partisan" and therefore continue to be politically viable in their own home states.
Thanks. There are so many nominations waiting I'm starting to lose track.
Good! What about the other judges they swore to block? One way or the other, the nuclear option will have to be used.
"Having Bush as President is paying off now. These are big things. Now, we just need a few retirements on the Supreme Court."
Yes indeed.
'I'm beginning to think that Frist met with Reid and said, "If you keep up this crap, I've got two words for you . . .
JUSTICE BORK."'
LOL
or
"JUSTICE STARR"
or
"JUSTICE ASHCROFT"
Nominee confirmation is more important than clarifying a Senate rule that does not need to be clarified now. Many seemed more interested in the humiliation of the Democrats than getting the confirmations.
Moreover, there is all the time in the world to "clarify" the stupid senate rule, which is, in the long run, absolutely irrelevant. I hate to sound like a Marxist, but really all that matters is power. You get your people in, especially the judges, THEN you worry about the "principle"---especially when it is the damn judges who are MAKING the principles.
The points in your posts are duly noted. May I add another? Have you noticed, as I have, how many high profile people (even highly educated people such as Donald Trump and Oprah) have vocabularies so limited that they sound very un-intelligent? For example, Trump seems to have one adjective in his lexicon and that would be "amazing". He and many others use the word "amazing" to describe everything and everyone! The adjective will either be amazing, awesome or incredible. That is it!
Another peeve: I will scream if high profile people continue to utter the word "like" in every sentence. I'm so tired of hearing "I was like" and "He's like." Please: somebody with a high public profile: lift the discourse and STOP talking like valley girls.
End of rant! Peace. Kate.
