Did you notice that Bill Kristol made a remark to Juan that he found it interesting that the night before HOward Dean gave the speech in which he said that he doesn't know of many Republicans that have held jobs (paraphrasing badly, I just can't remember the whole quote, sorry), he (Juan) had had dinner with Howard Dean....

It was rather telling IMHO--I am sure that Juan just beat it into Dean to go with the black voters in Ohio had to wait longer to vote than white people....

I had not heard about his New Hampshire speech. That Kerry joke is very reminiscent of the type of humor Romney sprinkled throughout his Convention speech.

I found the revelation of "Deep Throat" to be curiously timed.

I would bet that the article in July's Vanity Fair was timed, and the revelation [conveniently in pdf format] of that article being released on the beginning of a naturally dry news (Congressional recess) week was exactly placed so that Watergate etc would have a whole week - only sharing with MJackson as headline news.

How many other articles paid for and published by Vanity Fair go out to cyberspace for free, a month before the print issue hits the stands?

It's such an outrageous claim, do they really think that anyone stood in line that long? Please, Cleveland uses punch cards and Youngstown uses papers and pencils, the old style machines have been gone for years. Now they may have up graded to computers, but that would speed things up, not slow them down! The Dems really think that anyone believes these silly claims? I don't know about everyone else but I have worked polling stations on election day, even the largest turnouts rarely find anyone in line more than an hour.

First Mitt has to win re-election.

If he does that, yes, I think it likely he'll be increasing attentions to a POTUS run.

I'm not certain I want a MASS representative, even if it is Mitt, as the GOP nominee. Though he is a Govenor. Rightly or wrongly, I'm not too enamored of the Senate Body and it colors (for me) even real conservatives interested in a run (Allen, Frist). This could change if the Republicans manage to clean House in the Body and whip these RINO's into control. Until then I confess I'd prefer a Governor but Jeb is out and no one else really grabs the eye yet.

Well, duh. Our humble forefathers were trained by British troops till we got the hang of it and broke out of the mold.

Sometimes Biden just galls me. No, actually, he always has that effect on me.

....speaking of NBC, any opinions out there on Brian Williams? My brief exposures to him on Nightly News have shown a more fair presentation that Brokaw, and certainly better than the rest of the Alphabets.

I haven't watched him much since he took over Brokaw's roost, but when I did see him before that, he struck me the same way. I chalk it up to him being younger and more sensitive to the New Media and him knowing that we hold people like him accountable in a way that Grandpa and Grandma never did (because we are suspicious of the old media). He also strikes me as a rather decent person.

my fear is yes this Constitution is dead what they promised us a vote on, but will a new revamped one mean that our left wing government will decide on it without going to the country like was done in Germany.

snugs, we can pray that Blair uses his Prime Ministership and EU presidency to thwart those things. The heart of the "king" is in the hands of the Lord; He turns it wherever He will.

Exactly. The Watergate saga looks like Happy Days compared to the Clinton years.

The whole Watergate thing was very confusing to me at the time. I was a young skull full of mush then. Even more confusing was the Vietnam war. It took me years to figure that out. The one thing I can wholeheartedly praise Nixon for was putting an end to what JFK and LBJ messed up. LBJ was one of the worst presidents we've ever had.

I dare say that no one really knows who will run---that is the bad thing (the only one) about having Cheney as his VP, President Bush didn't help his party with a logical VP candidate to take his place...

I bet the dems would be in the same position if it weren't would kill anyone else that tries to unseat her as the "rightful" POTUS candidate!!!

I think we should concentrate on the 2006 elections---Senate and House. After all, there are more important things right now...like the SUPREME COURT and the other judicial nominees...

I fear the reverse will be true he will not want to have this hanging over his Presidency. Tomorrow Jack Straw will announce that the Constitution is dead and we will no longer be holding a referendum. IMHO the member states will then thrash out another Constitution this time it will not be given to the people to decide upon but each government will pass it and it will go through.

I hope you are right but with Blair's record as I perceive I fear the opposite as originally Blair was all for the original Constitution and only changed his mind and said he would allow a referendum when he realised it was not popular in Britain and the Conservatives were demanding a referendum and don't forget an election was looming so he granted one but not before next year knowing full well we would never hold the referendum because France and Holland were likely to vote no. Typical left wing tactics I am afraid to say Gretchen.

Agreed.

IMO, 2008 is dependant on the four years before it's arrival. This is why the Republicans inability to get their act together is so infuriating. '08 should be as much of a breeeze as any Presidential campaign can ever be no matter who the Dems nominate if they follow through on the President's agenda set in his campaign.

Judges, tax reform, private accounts, strong prosecution of WOT, strong defense of marriage, make school vouchers a front liner issue again because it connects with Faith, minority and lower income families.

It's been my opinion they don't need a marquee name to win provided they have a positive record of conservative accomplishments.
