Thanks, that's what I had understood also, but with all the talk of impeachment, and John Kerry standing up tomorrow (he will actually show up at his job! Write the date down), I thought I had missed some important "smoking gun".
I am sure they would try, but I pray that they wouldn't--NOT that I for a second believe the President Bush deserves impeachment, or will be impeached...
BUT, I think just the "threat" of a Cheney presidency would be enough to scare them...besides, Bush could pull a Nixon and resign BEFORE it got to that point, and Cheney would just step in....delicious!!!!

IMOHO... I think Juan has made it known that he 'prefers' doing FOXSunday and NOT the weekly panel with Charles or Fred and Brit hosting.

Many thanks to George Will for pointing out that Harry Reid's smarmy innuendo against Judge Saad and his "secret" FBI files would be a firestorm if he had been a demo candidate for appointment.
"Even more so the fact that the only reason he has come forward now is to make money." Don't ascribe such to a senile old man whose family is 'outing him' for profit. It is very possible that Feldt has lived with a burden of shame for decades ... and not all of it from Watergate.
Smoking gun? ROFLOL This will be the closest Kerry has ever gotten to one without fleeing, or hiding below deck! Further, the gun always smokes after shooting yourself in the foot.

Democrats ASSUME Republicans will use FBI information as Democrats have done in the past and still do today. No mention, so far, on Hillary & Co asking for, and getting, FBI files while her husband was president.
Thank you so much for posting this. This thought's been rattling around in my little pea brain for a few days, but I haven't shared it because it seems even too loony for the Dims and the MSM to hatch. You'd think I'd learn after the last few years, but noooo...
From the sound of this thread, I'd say the Dims have committed themselves to pursuing this ridiculous impeachment attempt. It appears that they've put out all kinds of feelers on these talk shows, and the continuing media group orgy over Watergate only fuels the drive.
We've been discussing all week how Mark Felt came crawling out of the sewer to ca$h in on Watergate before he croaks, assuming that the target of his shakedown was Woodward, who became a millionaire off Watergate. Maybe we got that part wrong.
In which case, if this renewal of Watergate is a part of larger attempt to impeach another Republican president, the question then becomes, Who paid Mark Felt to come forward right now? That could be a story worth pursuing, but I won't insult your intelligence by even asking what you think the chances are of the MSM running that one down.
I hate to say it, but the key to the entire thing now is the RINOs, especially John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Throw Trent Lott into that mix as well. If they decide to show some party loyalty for once in their lives and sit this out, the impeachment attempt will probably fizzle quickly, and be nothing more than fodder for the moonbats. However, if they decide to say they're "deeply concerned" about the Downing Street memo and call on the WH to "address these allegations so we can move on", all friggin' hell could break loose. I still don't think it would be possible to actually impeach George Bush, much less convict him in the Senate, but the Left could succeed in grinding the government to a complete halt for months with a big media circus, and cause the President a lot of political damage.
To make things even worse, McCain, Graham and Lott have a lot of incentive to see this impeachment attempt go forward. With Lott, it's nothing but payback for his loss of the Majority Leader position. I joined FR right about the time that the whole Lott/Strom Thurmond story blew up, and took the position that if we wanted to dump Lott as SML, fine, but don't do it by playing the Left's game. Once it became clear that Lott was going to be thrown under the bus anyway, I said that we needed to kick him out of the Senate, even though it meant that the then Dim governor of MS would appoint his successor. My reasoning was that you could hardly expect him to just go and sit quietly in the back after taking his position away under those circumstances, and not have him scheming for revenge and causing all sorts of problems down the road. Well, I got good and properly roasted alive for that. I hate to say I told you so, but ...
In the case of McCain and Graham, they can spout off all they want about how they "saved the Republican party" and how they "stood on principle" with the filibuster "compromise", and they can claim that the vast majority of the moderates support them, but that's all smoke and they both know it. They've seen the backlash against them from the base (especially Graham) and they know they're toast - the base will not forget what they've done, and will do everything in it's power to ensure that neither of them gets reelected to anything again. The only way they can come out on top of this is to "prove" that they were correct in opposing the "far right" wing of the party, and what better way is there to do that than to destroy President Bush? They don't even have to do any of the real dirty work, and they get to appear "statesmanlike" by calling for an investigation into the Downing street memo allegations.
Hopefully there will be no "Deep Throat" type to suddenly appear.
Now that I've completely taken this road, I'll wrap the tinfoil even more snugly around my head and say that I wouldn't be surprised if they don't already have a "Deep Throat", and that they're just waiting for the right time to spring him/her on us.
The reports I have seen suggest he is somewhat senile but the rest of the family see this as an opportunity to make money which makes the whole episode even sadder.

Juan is dumb as a box of rocks! Why does he have to be such a stereotype? What Fox should do is put a Walter Williams, or one of the other anti-stereotype, ringing black voices. Commercial came and went.... Do you think Juan went under the table on Dean? ... over the top and self-indulgent LOL ... 'nother commercial .... I gotta get outta here ...
