Too tell the truth, this is one reason I was not 100% behind Clintons removal from office. I was supportive of the impeachment, but I feared the punishment would be too much for our country, an Al Gore presidency. I also knew that if AG became President due to impeachment, it would be much harder to get a Republican in office in 2000.

So all I can say to Dems is "Be careful what you wish for"

I have thought the same thing many times recently (about the Clinton impeachment)

He so obviously should have been convicted; the case was totally proved. And I was so disappointed at the time.

But now I realize that the Goreman would have become president and very possibly -- or even probably given the closeness of the race -- been re-elected and we would never have had GWB. What a tragedy that would have been.

Sometimes things happen for the best and we don't realize it at the time.
