PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President and First Lady are spending the weekend at their Crawford ranch. Undoubtedly Barney and Beezie are with them, but no new photos have turned up on Yahoo News Photos. (Sigh.) British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be visiting the President at the White House on Tuesday. The meeting is intended to be preparatory to the G8 Summit to be held in Scotland next month. They are expected to talk about aid to Africa, as well as the status of things in Afghanistan and Iraq.
THE WEEK AHEAD: From White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan's press gaggle yesterday.
Monday, the President will be going to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to make remarks at the opening of the general assembly for the Organization of American States. Then when he gets back to the White House, he'll make remarks on the South Lawn for Black Music Month. There will be a White House Black Music Month reception.
Tuesday, the President welcomes Prime Minister Blair back to the White House. Following their meeting, they will participate in a joint -- it's an afternoon meeting, they'll participate in a joint press availability. That's scheduled for the East Room at this point. And then they will have dinner after the joint press availability.
Wednesday, the President meets with Prime Minister Erdogan at the White House in the Oval Office, and then he will be making remarks on strengthening Social Security later in the day.
Thursday, GWB travels to Colombus, Ohio, where he will make remarks on the Patriot Act. Congress is considering legislation to reauthorize the Patriot Act right.
Friday, the President will go to McLean, Virginia, where he will tour the National Counterterrorism Center. And then he will meet with President Roh in the Oval Office later that day.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the Presidential Radio Address today.
America's economy is on the right track. Over the past two years, we've added more than 3.5 million new jobs. More Americans are working today than ever before. Home ownership is at an all time high. Small businesses are flourishing. Factory output is growing. And families are taking home more of what they earn.
These are hopeful signs for our economy, and we must work hard to sustain that prosperity. When members of Congress return next week, they need to take action on four key priorities for the American people. [The President then discussed each of the four points. Thanks, SoCal... Saw that on the NJ forum. Sure wish Bret would do something in Bergen County where I live!! We used to be catered-to up here -now we're largely forgotten- what's the deal?! :O
I'm still a huge fan of The Smithereens. Does that make me wierd? I've never met anyone else who was!
Enya's "A Day Without Rain" CD is great to relax to, I put it on the computer drive and FReep.
That's the one I don't have--guess I'm gonna have to buy it so I can do the same thing. This time of the night, though, it might just put me to sleep over the computer! LOL!
BTW--how are you tonight?!
My neighbor said the body was dumped at 8 PM and I was returning from the store at that time, so I think I just missed it. In any event, there is a line of Lombardy poplars atop a high rock wall, with a fence between my place and the crime scene, so I didn't see any of it at the time. I don't know much about the victim but it sounded like he was a neighbor. I pray all the time for my protection around this place. I'm not upset for myself but I feel badly for the young man who was murdered. The police said the victim and the man arrested for his murder knew each other and the police wanted to reassure residents that this was not a random murder. I always wonder about drugs or alcohol in situations like this.
Lucky you got to have a pretty day, down here in SD (at least by me)the clouds never cleared.
Snugs, thank you for your wonderful additions tonight. When I was looking at both the Cheney's, I noticed how young they both look. How old are they? (I so hope they are muuuuch younger than me!)
This is one of Justacowgirl's finds and one of her favourites.
I am not sure but think that Barbra Bush still have spaniels.
Here is the most recent one of them taken on the Larry King Show aired last week.
Here is a recent montage of the family that I have put together
here I am!
And here's your cake...You knew this was coming...
Hope it was a happy birthday. God Bless you!
apples, we would have known you anywhere!! That IS you standing at the back against the wall, isn't it?
LOL!
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
See what you've done, LUV W!? :-D
LOL! I can't think of a better description of Chloe :)
It was on FOX in April, Sunday nights, about 9 or 9:30pm EST. It only lasted 3 weeks before it was canceled. Just about the unfunniest comedy show I've ever seen.
But Kelsey Grammer's next project will be much better, I think. He's been cast as "The Beast", the intelligent blue-haired mutant, in X-Men 3. That should be interesting!
