Thats what I love about FR, where else would I get info like that?! thanks Granny. Boy its hot and humid here in the DFW area. Looks ripe for some weather. Our latest forecast mentions an increased chance for big weather here although most is expected to the Red river and north.
It blew threw hear in abowt fife minuets...No problmes.
There's a rather nasty-looking cell northwest of North Platte, Nebraska right now.
Nothing like a strong spring thunderstorm on the prairie. Being somewhat of a weather buff, I miss Midwestern spring weather (not the damage they can cause, though). No super cell T-storms here in San Diego. I still have my old Radio Shack WeatherAlert radio, but it doesn't get much use any more. I hope any tornados that form today stay out in open fields, where they can be viewed and studied without causing harm. Good luck all.
Sure made "man your post" a literal order. Trouble was, the sirens were so loud they almost blew you off the top of the pole, so we learned to carry ear plugs all the time. Of course, sometimes the wind would almost do the job, too.
The town I live in now has a nice button at the 911 center that they just flip. We have a siren about 30 feet outside our bedroom window, and they test it on Wed. each week. Had a roofer standing on the shed roof last summer when the thing went off just feet above his head. Guess what!!
Prayers for everyone's safety!!!
From Strats Link: "That northern most cell in Kansas (northeast of Manhatten) looks like it developed a small hook in that last scan (4:22p CDT)... imagine that'll go TORNADO WARNED here very soon."
The first spring I lived in Kansas, we were in a new subdivision. The sirens went off and the police came around to warn us of the tornado warning. Like morons all of us ran outside to see what was going on and to try to see the tornado. We were all transplants to the Midwest and the whole storm warning thing was a novelty. Luckily I didn't see a tornado, that day or any other while I lived there - it was a dense suburban area and the damage would have been bad.
Oh, and about climbing the poles, I forgot to mention that when the warning was over and it was only raining cats and dogs, we got to go back up and turned the blasting alarms off.
Tornado Watch now extended south to OK city.

Hubby is on the road today. He left about 10:00 am with a trailer to pick up 3 4-wheelers from a dealer in your town.
There is nothing on the radar there right now, it will be interesting to see if he is right.
Same up here on the Central Coast.
I see we are in a Tornado watch now, thats a suprise.
Just West and NW of the DFW area south to brownwood.
Two weeks ago we had a five day heat wave and the local TV news was talking about no June Gloom and a hotter than normal summer with big fire danger. You don't think they were over hyping a little, do you?
Was in Chickasha at a 4th District Republican Committee Meeting when we heard thunder. The lady I was riding with said time to go as bad weather tracks up I-44 which runs right through Chickasha. Got back to Norman and it is bright sun mixed with a few clouds but we are still part of that watch area that includes North Texas.

I think I will have a watch from here.
