Just in on ABC News. He and his family admit it through his lawyer. Will be in upcoming Vanity Fair.
Media whores won't talk to the TV cameras that would be at their homes in an instant for a scoop on this level?! What the heck do you know?!
Give them a few days?! Will you even remember this thread in a few days?
I'll give them years. Woodward and Berstein won't confirm Felt as Deep Throat. For one thing, that confirmation would reveal Woodward and Berstein as liars...Mark Felt didn't smoke, after all.
Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.
I had proof of my predictions right here on FR. Dean did give me a scare and I thought I had picked the wrong northeastern liberal. My father-in-law, wife, and uncle also heard me predict the Kerry scenario over and over.
Say hi to Elvis and Ben Laden. Enjoy your lunch at their favorite site, any 7-11.
I "googled" W. Mark Felt and clicked on "images", but nothing came up other than shirts and a book cover.
How convenient. The guy who is 91 years old thinks it's him, his family thinks. Just enough here give Woodward and Berstein their DeepThroat, who coincidentally takes his secrets to the grave.
If he didn't smoke, as you say, and Woodstein wanted to "disguise" Deep Throat in the book..the best way is to make him a smoker...
Exactly. Yeah, they had one heck of a source, but they still had to put together the timeline and tie everything together, a big job.
Bob Woodward doesn't have to be near the dying or dead to communicate with them. Just like him telling us what Condi had to say when she was alone.
And Felt's FBI position could have strengthened Woodward's desire to protect Deep Throatby all accounts, he has been extraordinarily careful not to give any clues as to who his source was. An editor at the Post told us: 'Woodward disguised Deep Throat. Woodward tried not to lie, but he tried to keep people off the track as much as possible. For instance, Woodward made a lot of Deep Throat smoking cigarettes, but I had the feeling that Deep Throat doesn't smoke." Obviously Woodward had plenty of reason to disguise a Felt-type Deep Throatif the FBI source for the Post's Watergate investigation were revealed, it could look like the FBI was using the Post and it also would detract from the picture of two young reporters out knocking on doors to find out all by themselves who was behind Watergate. -- From The Washingtonian magazine of August 1974
You just fell for the misdirection he used. That was the purpose.
[shrug]
They are the sit down type. They want to be in control. They are not going to do a press conferance.

Yes I will.

The smoking part could have been used to throw everyone off the guys real identity. My opinion is that this guy is as good as any to pin it on. I think deep throat was never a real person just a bunch of people and some BS that W&B made up.
On another front, Chirac just named de Villepin Prime Minster of France!
I am Sparticles.
No, wait.
Not at all. They were under no obligation to not throw people off the track, since, as I said, from the very beginning of the scandal, Mark Felt was in the Top 5 suspects-- because of what all was needed to pull it off and to have the info he needed to have. The list was never long, except from conspiracy theorists. They had to throw garbage in about his identity. Otherwise, people would move him from the Top 5 to the one and only possibility.
Absolutely correct, and had it been the Kennedy machine caught red-handed (or the Clintons), it would have been brushed aside.
