Rev. Who Denied God Exists Back in Pulpit
Associated Press ^ | 5/29/05 | JAN M. OLSEN

TAARBAEK, Denmark - A Danish Lutheran minister who publicly denied the existence of God said Sunday he was glad to be back in the pulpit, but refused to speak about the case that led to his brief suspension last year.

The country's Evangelical Lutheran Church suspended him in June 2004 because he said in an interview that "there is no heavenly God." Earlier this month, he was reinstated after renewing his vows, but will remain under the supervision of a bishop.

In Denmark, where Lutheran ministers are employed by the state and only the government can fire them or take them to court, the church requested Grosboell be placed before a disciplinary labor court for doubting eternal life and the resurrection.

The government refused, saying he should be given another chance to explain himself to Jan Lindhardt, a regional bishop who has been one of his few defenders. Lindhardt has said that although he disagrees with Grosboell's views there should be room for him in Denmark's state church

For those who get it so wrong so often, this is exactly what our forefathers were talking about when, in letters, not in the Constitution, they discussed a "separation of church and state." It has nothing to do with not allowing kids to pray in school.

Maybe he should become an Episcopalian?

I guess he begins all of his prayers with, "To whom it may concern..."?

Did you know that the "Catholic" schools in Canada are completely State funded?

Actually this makes more sense than one might think.

Atheistic Secularism is the religion of the Left. They might as well make it official and establish their own temples, ministers, and hierarchy, etc., just like any other religion.

Their ministers could preach atheism, Marxism, that materialism is all there is, that nothing exists but the mindless nihilism of the Dark Side, and the rest of the sinister decadence of the Left.

They're spreading their perverse "gospel" anyway. The religion of the Left might as well come out of the closet.

Now that is depressing

How can one minister under the authority of the Word of God if God does not exist. Martin Luther pinned his hopes on being justified by faith.

I'd suggest that you turn to the original sources, such as the Book of Concord to find out what Lutherans believe rather than relying on the very prejudiced opinions of a local clergyman who is convinced that his personal interpretation of the Bible and of others' faith is the only correct interpretation.

Wouldn't that make them just as bad as government schools in the U.S.?

"Did you know that the "Catholic" schools in Canada are completely State funded?"

That is not quite accurate. Each province sets their own rules about it and they are not all the same. As I recall, here in Ontario Catholic schoos are partly state funded, and the only string attached is that they schools must accept non-Catholic students if there are not enough Catholic students to fill the school's capacity.

The Catholic School system has become a refuge for all Christians sick of the relentless PC garbage in the public school system.

Apology accepted!

Start with the Large Catechism on the Creed--particularly the Second and Third Articles to learn what orthodox Lutherans believe, teach, and confess concerning Christ.

Thanks for the correction, I worked for a company out of Toronto and some folks there told me all the public schools were Catholic. I admit I have not really investigated it.

I think he needs another career.

Yes, another career that he can take the paycheck without denying the reason for his employment.

IOW, if he honestly doesn't believe in the God of the Bible, what's he doing as a paid Christian minister? He must be in his job only for the money, because an honest man would get out if he didn't believe the doctrine his job title professes.

That's nothing. The Archbishop of Canterbury has publicly doubted that Jesus was the Son of God and that he died and rose again.
