Yeah, blah, blah, blah.

My wife works 32-38 hours a week at the local Wally. She is an hourly worker, and makes more than the going rate in our locale, and it was the same where we previously domiciled in another state. The VERY AFFORDABLE insurance is the best that we ever had, anywhere at any time, and we have had some pretty damn good insurance. In every case we have taken Wally-World insurance over that available where I have worked.

She has been treated fairly and enjoys what she does. She has been encouraged to advance at every turn and has been justly compensated for the advancement that she has accepted. She has not been sexually harassed, made to work off the clock, treated like crap, or any of the other whining points that you hear from the socialist agitators.

I guess what I am saying is that you are either misinformed from believing what you read on the news, a socialist agitator, or a whiny ex-employee who has nothing better to do than slam a good company. I sincerely hope that it is the first possibility, but who really cares?

work has to pay enough for the workers to subsist on their own.

What we need is some good old legislation to that effect. That'll solve the problem!

If you do not have talent, or acquire skills and knowledge, and learn to have a work ethic, you work at low wage jobs for the rest of your life. Walmart is a good first job or a supplemental job. Most people I know that work there are supplementing their income.

Living wage=Marxism.

Get over it.

If people are too freaking stupid to make a good living in the greatest country on earth with all the opportunities, then to hell with them.

And define "living wage". Two cars, cellphones, cable, computer, internet access, etc? Geez, I guess next you'll argue these are god-given rights.

Anyone with an IQ above 100 can make a good living. Most don't even try.

After you have owned your own business and paid wages and benefits, and seen employees come late, fail to come at all, want more time off for this and that, etc, and always have their paycheck ready, you begin to feel they have it backwards.

It's employees that exploit the employer.

If you want people to have a higher wages and more benefits, start your own business and give them anything you want.

Worse than what, being employed?

There is no shame in any job and WalMart is work.

Doesn't mean WalMart has to pay people more than they are worth to them.

If they WERE worth more, they could offer their services in the market and get the value they deserve.
It is my opinion though that the ones complaining about WalMart's wage would find they are worth LESS outside of WalMart. Why else stay at such a company when it so offends their rarefied air?

Also, who the heck says ANYONE has a right to prosperity based on living alone or trying to raise several illegitimate children?
You have the right to pursue happiness in this country, you are NOT guaranteed it.

Up until a couple of generations ago, most people lived in apartments at one time or another and many only rented their whole life never being able to earn their own home.

It is not unusual to have people with low wages living within their means.

If they rent with three other people, share expenses, they can afford life and a decent used car with insurance.

Maybe they can learn more skills to be worth more than what they are paid at WalMart.

My statement wasn't about the job, it was about their unrealistic expectations in life and trying to blame WalMart. That is utter stupidity and the greed of union thugs trying to convince the workers that it is their boss and not them that are the problem.

If they were worth a nickle more, they could get it in the market. As I said, they would mostly probably find they are worth far less than what WalMart charitably pays them.

My wife works at Walmart and is treated very well. There are opportunities for advancement, a good choice of health insurance, 401K, stock etc. These are benefits that the local mom and pop stores downtown never could offer. Walmart is the retail version of the New York Yankees. The Yankees are the premier baseball franchise. People either hate them or love them.

This "living wage" idea is garbage. If a job at Walmart doesn't meet someone's needs, they are free to seek employment elsewhere. They are free to seek additional training. I worked in retail for 20 years. After I got married, it didn't meet my needs any longer. I returned to college. I worked full-time while going to school full-time. I got my degree and I got out. Now I am making more money. Why? I sought marketable job skills that would pay me a higher wage.

Yes... on that note... what exactly is a living wage? What does it mean? By who's living standards? A bunch of spoiled college brats? Oh wait a minute... that's the only living standard they know.

Capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

I have never seen it put better than that.
