Hot political story of the day is out of the Volunteer State. Huge FBI corruption sting--dubbed "Operation Tennessee Waltz"--has resulted in the arrest of four state legislators, including the uncle of recently announced Dem U.S. Senate candidate Harold Ford. State legislator John Ford apparently threatened to kill an undercover FBI agent. (Indictments posted in full at Newschannel 5.) Another arrested was state legislator Kathryn Bowers, chairman of the Memphis-area Democratic Party. There's one Republican in the bunch. More arrests expected.
I'm confused. Aren't we talking about something his uncle did?
What? I didn't anticipate his crime extended to that degree. Wow...this is going to be interesting.
Sad but true, Harold Ford Senior beat his bribery rap when he got the venue changed to the River City.
This will be a federal trial, and the jury pool will be chosen from a very large area not just Shelby County.
Earth to NCC
Come In NCC!
Your soooo dreaming!
Where are the Madisons?
I can hope, can't I? I KNOW it's John Ford, but the feds eventually got Capone and Gotti. So, anything is possible.
BTW, who are the Madisons?
What would have made my day complete would have been to see Lard Ass Jimmy Naifeh led off in handcuffs as well. But, maybe next week...
Save that for the second half. Too much too soon is bad. Lets save some goodies for later. Maybe King Willie will be coming up soon. Hope springs eternal.
Sure, they always throw a Republican in with the crowd of Democrat crooks to make it look "bipartisan". Like in the big S&L scandal of the '80s, the "Keating Five" included a Republican..... I forget who....(tapping finger) Oh, yeah! That Republican was John McCain!
"...I thought that you said that you work in the Court House?..."
I work in City Hall, where king Willie holds court. As for the Madison thing, I just forgot about that one. there has been so many scandals here so it's hard to keep up with them. Anyway, it's a great day in the River City when the Feds finally nabbed John Ford. It would have been nice to be a fly on the wall in Mason, Tn last night. To see JF in a prison cell would have been priceless. His self-inflicted nightmare has just begun. Strip Ford of the ONE thing he craves most: POWER!
LOL - Dream on.
The Madisons were a sweet elderly couple in Memphis. He is a respected Church elder over a district of AME churches while she ran daycare centers. Together they managed to steal millions (not sure of the exact amount) from the government. Seems they were taking money given to subsidize daycare expenses for poor children. Apparently they were tsaking cruises and buying big cars, vacations etc. on this money. There case was last year around this time. The Judge did not sentence them until the law changed that gave Judges more say in sentencing. Since she no longer had to abide my Federal guidelines she gave them a slap on the wrist.
This Ford thing will be interesting to watch. I hear they
keep things hopping in Tennessee (I'm in VA but plan to move there this summer).
What I really want to see happen is B'rer Ford make good on his ominous warning made to the entire General Assembly up in Nashville earlier this year. He was being investigated for some OTHER law violation and he referenced the famous quote "...people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."
You just know John knows where a lot of those bodies are buried in the Tennessee legislature; all the dirty deals and kickback schemes.
I hope during this federal trial he spills the beans on all those damn crooks up there. DemocRAT, Republican, black, white, male, female - I don't discriminate! Chunk 'em all into the slammer!
As NCC said, the scandals down in Shelby County are numerous and varied. King Willie and his cronies, the Ford machine, the totally unnecessary dual city and county commissions, the sorry state of public education, and the neverending tax increases for less public services make for a fascinating mixture of disgust and distrust. It is enough to qualify for the next network reality show.
The political landscape in Shelby County would challenge Jack Bauer. Where pathetic ends, the political process in Shelby County begins.
According to the local paper (which I can't post from)John is the one who was indicted for allegedly firing a gun at a trucker. He was later found not guilty. They did a little timeline of state legislature rules over the past few years.
It's so hard to get them confused! lol
why are democrat women always so damn homemade mud ugly??
It's not only possible, but inevitable.
