With the Senate scheduled to seek a vote on the president's nomination of John Bolton today, Democrats are threatening a last minute parliamentary maneuver to block the vote.
Yesterday Senator Dodd, a Democrat from Connecticut urged his colleagues to vote against the closing of debate on the floor of the Senate until the State Department provided him and his colleagues with outstanding requests for intelligence on a speech Mr. Bolton was blocked from giving on Syrian proliferation. Mr. Dodd also renewed a request from his party for the names Mr. Bolton requested of American officials in National Security Agency intelligence reports. Names of Americans are redacted in these files and are not disclosed unless requested by a senior official...

I think the process should be changed so that if the Senate doesn't vote within one year on a nominee, it is assumed that consent is given.
In addition Dodd wanted the FBI to report on the truthfulness on a rumor relating to an incident in Bolton's 3rd grade class suggesting that Bolton had fraudulently used a hall pass.
Please, please, please dems, filibuster Bolton. Filibuster everyone and everything. Please do this. I want to see the look on the faces of the "gang of seven" when they see what they get for compromising with the democrats.
Get this "gang of seven" and get this now. The democrats believe that they should rule by right. They refuse to accept the result of the election and so long as you continue to feed that monster, it will continue to feed, in turn, on you. Here endeth the lesson.
A filibuster on Bolton won't kill the "deal", because the deal was never about him.
The confirmation of 2 levels of the judiciary were the only thing covered in the "deal". Neither the understanding, nor the Constitutional option were about Bush nominations for any other positions.
Sucker-punched.
Chris Dodd, like Tom Jeffords and John McCain, was once a RINO too.
RINOS are always obnoxious.
So you think that the hold on Bolton was coincidentally removed? There are things about the deal that was not made public.
We are left guessing about what they are but clearly the Dims allowing this early shedule of the Bolton cloture vote is part of this. If cloture fails on Bolton, then the deal is already breaking down.
Oh, let's wait for the RINOs to set up yet another group to come up with a cave in on this issue. It should happen shortly.
Cloture will pass. The vote on Bolton will occur.
For all we know, spiking Bolton by the GOP 7 was part of the deal.
Only because the only nominations sujected to a refusal to vote were Circuit Court nominees. Frist has said he'd amke 100 Senators go on the record the next time the Senate refuses to vote on a nominee, any nominee. They ALL get a vote.
Senator Dodd is going to subpoena Mr. Boltons mother in order to find out if he was a colicky baby.
BTTT
True...
Frist has said he'd make 100 Senators go on the record the next time the Senate refuses to vote on a nominee, any nominee. They ALL get a vote.
Sounded to me like District Court nominees were no longer going to be tabled at the committee level. Let the Dems use their filibuster to block those too.
I can't remember which one, but during the debate on Owen, some Dem said something on the floor about the GOP's lack of concern for District nominees...
Why in God's name do you think the Rats would keep their word?
RefugeeFromA2--I am here to tell you that I have Senator Reid's signature on this paper I am holding in my hand, and I am happy to say that this insures that we will have "peace in our time."
filibuster v. the use of delayaing tactics esp. in a legislative assembly.
Well we should know quickly about that and if it is the will be much heat after that vote. Now by spiking Bolton do you mean voting for cloture and then voting against Bolton?
Hard to believe that Voinuvick [or should I coin a nickname after the crying incidence and call him Voinabitch] would feel the need to cry on the Senate floor if he knew the fix was in and Bolton would be spiked? His behavior makes me think the fix is in and Bolton will be confirmed. But we will see.
Yep...
Now by spiking Bolton do you mean voting for cloture and then voting against Bolton?
That would be one way. The other would be a "bipartisan" filibuster. Give some Dems cover to vote against the filibuster by plugging in some Republicans to take their place.

He wasn't part of the deal, so there would have been no need to consult him or to clue him in. The fewer people that know any of the details of the back room part of the deal, the easier it is to keep the particulars from leaking out.
His behavior makes me think the fix is in and Bolton will be confirmed.
Useful idiots are always more passionate than the power players that use them.
But we will see.
Yes & soon.
