Holloman Again Sends Stealths To South Korea

POSTED: 8:26 am MDT May 24, 2005
UPDATED: 8:44 am MDT May 24, 2005

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. -- Fifteen F-117A Nighthawk stealth fighters are leaving Holloman Air Force Base this week for South Korea.

The 49th Fighter Wing announced the deployment of about 250 airmen and the stealths Monday.

About 24 stealths and 300 airmen were deployed from Holloman to Kunsan Air Base in South Korea last summer.

Officials wouldn't disclose where in South Korea the new deployment would be going.

The deployment comes as North Korea threatens a nuclear weapons test.

The White House urged North Korea Monday to return to diplomatic talks.

Now there are total of 39 F-117's in S. Korea. They also deployed many B-2's in Guam(I forgot how many.) A quiet incremental deployment. Not a good news to Chia Fruit.

Good to see Bush showing some muscle over this. Chia fruit needs to get off his high horse and realize how small he is.

Are you sure that the "24" last summer didn't come back from their TDY ?

Leaving just the 15 deployed this time ?

Actually would you believe whatever we saw in the press. Odds are they are there, but the number is confidential. Same as I doubt we know how many F-117s are in SK.
To add to the tinfoil effect, the USAF deployed F-15Es to Guam 2 weeks ago. And the USN is upgrading the Aegis presence in Japan by two ships. (one ship being replaced was an Aegis cruiser, the Vincennes but it did not have VLS) China, be careful.

We are not going to attack NK. Pure posturing.

Chia fruit knows it and ain't gonna budge.

Short of a quarantine (to search NK shipping) there's nothing we can do.

SURE we can attack NK. The sooner the better, before the get better technology. Right now the NK response would be to level Tokoyo. Can we stop those nukes from getting to Japan? That is the question.

Thats why I call him : KIM GONE ILL ....
One would think that if the US is planning some kind of military response to KIM GONE ILL's actions, that they would keep it hush hush and not announce something like this in the media , unless ? it is misinformation ?

Someone recently posted up a missile defense diagram which showed our capacity to take on various threats. It was interesting to see our varous forms of missile defense from small ground based weapons to lasers on aircraft.

Probebly either a stern warning or misinformation for other plans. Or a combination of both.

I can only guess that they would also have the new first operational ready F - 22 in the mix of things over there to ?
Or would they not risk using the F-22 over there because they have only a few that are operational ready ?

Re #7

Probably not. However, it will make the worst case scenario credible. The tension will go up incrementally, along with economic and diplomatic pressure to China. The best case is to stop N. Korean regime using quarantine with China and S. Korea on board.

The whole focus is to prevent miscalculation from N. Korea or other players, by giving the impression that America is not really serious about going all the way if necessary.

It is not much different from psychology of MAD.

Well,,,, we do have a 747 with a laser torrent on it, but, I am not sure if it is operational at this time or it's effectiveness on a ICBM.

I always think of military equipment in the context of...

If we know it exists... we have stuff 10x as advanced in operation that we don't know about.

Heck, the F-117 was flying around for roughly 15 years before we knew of "have blue".

Oh goodness, not another "train accident" this Summer in North Korea!

...Or my personal favorite...the old unexplained rocket fuel depot explosion trick.

Most of the F-22s are in the hands of the experts who develop tactics for A2A combat in Tyndall Air Force Base. They are experimenting in the best way to defeat an enemy with the F-22.
The first squadron is due to be in Langly AFB VA soon, several planes are already there. I suspect that until they have a whole squadron (12-15 planes) there they would technically not be operation, but I think they will have that many by June/July.
The second squadron is destined for Elmendorf AK and last I read it was supposed to happen by Dec of this year. That is just around the corner from NK. I seem to recall I saw someplace that like about 50 F-22s were built already, and that now the production facility was going to go into high gear. That would be about 4+/month.
The F-22 is not critical to an NK operation, but would be in protecting Taiwan, and some other types of operations.
