When is Graham up for re-election? And does he realize he's on his way out? He's up, and mean his time is up, in 2006. I may not vote for a democrat, but I will never vote for him again.

"I appreciated how candid Frist was with his answers. This will end up being a win for him. He said he was disappointed and is keeping his finger on the nuclear option."

Anybody can keep their finger on the button, but it takes b*lls to push the button. I doubt if there's a complete set of those among them.

from Via Confirmthem.com & this thread:

Or, in other words, the clause “nominees should only be filibustered under extraordinary circumstances, and each signatory must use his or her own discretion and judgment in determining whether such circumstances exist” means that if Democrat signatories filibuster when Lindsey Graham and Mike DeWine (et al.) think the circumstances are not extraordinary, then they have their “out” clause.

They can can rightly say that the nominees should not have been filibustered because the circumstances were not extraordinary. Thus, the GOPers would be released from their commitment to vote against the nuclear option.

That reading is more plausible to me than the alternative reading that Graham and DeWine were majorly duped. Now it is up to them to hold the Democrats’ feet to the fire. Are they up to it? Graham surely is, and DeWine is mouthing the right words. That makes 48 GOP non-signers + 2 who will hold Dems to the agreement = 50. In theory, it looks good.

As I said there, I don't know about you, but I'm not taking kindly to the fate of the judiciary resting on the cojones of Senator Graham.

Frist calls them "rump groups" Is that a polite way of calling them a bunch of asses?

That's sure one way of looking at it. "Rump" is actually a word that means a subset of a legislature that unrepresentative and lacking any authority.

I guess Lindsey Graham missed the fact that the Rats on the other side of this have just set themselves up as the most powerful people in the world.

Every other Rat in the world will have to come crawling to them to get their vote for a filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee.

I'd bet big money that the good people of South Carolina would love to "start over" on that election to fill Thurmond's old seat.

You got that right! Graham is dead meat.

They won't be blocking anything in committee IMHO.

I'm not so sure. I don't trust Graham and he holds the trump card.

If Frist really said this, I think it's great. Frist should be encouraged to stand by this statement and make it happen.

Up or down, a vote on each, or Armaggedon.

Correct, except in extraordinary circumstances. This is an agreement between 14 senators.

If that's the case we can argue that the Dems just took it on the chin too. I still don't like the agreement though and see it as nothing more than a personal power grab on McCain, Graham and DeWine's part. Warner, I don't know. Collins, Snowe and Chafee probably showed the most integrity in actually serving their constituents.

After listening to both Graham & Frist, my take is that Graham knows he screwed up to have put his faith and future in the hands of rattlesnake dems. Frist is going to benefit from the backstab and the end run around the Constitution and the 7 RINOS. At least this Senate has gotten a reality check and finally realizes their constituents are pissed off beyond belief and maybe they'll finally realize their power trip days are numbered unless they get the sh*t together.

Oh yeah and one more thing...........

What do you think is going through Voinovich's mind right now? He gotta be seeing the backlash and say to himself "Damn!".

I bet he is having a bit of self evaluation right now.

Work hard for her republican opponent next election, PLC.

Here in WI we have Feingold and Kohl. They are to the left of almost everyone! We can't get them out!
