Before we explode in disgust about the RINO defectors, please consider this: IF the nominated judges get an up or down vote, we win. If a nominated judge gets blocked by filibuster again, we can still "pull the trigger" on the constitutional option...this time with "betrayed and outraged moderates" leading the way. As much as I want to just respond to this emotionally, I am trying to show patience to see how this pans out over the next month. I also am looking forward to seeing how the DUmmies seeth as judges are nominated. So, please, "hold your powder" but keep your eye on the target.
YEAH! What you said!!!
I tend to agree with you. W gets his three 'most extreme' judges, and we can still blast the filibuster. That said, the RNC may get $$$$ from me, but not for the Senate.
Exactly.
What do you think the target is? Getting these three nominees a vote? Supreme Court nominees? Compromising principle of not having the president's nominees get a vote for the first time in American history?
A double redundant oxymoron........
I don't understand what the hell is going on here.
The Dems promised to only filibuster in EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES.
But they allow the 3 judges they considered the most extremee, Brown, Owen and Prior..
So are they going to filibuster Saad and Myers???
Someone explain this to me??
Frist's incompetence and the RINO-seven's duplicity have rendered me thus. And here I will remain.
Now it's up to the Republicans to coax me back with solid progress. I'm not expecting any.
I will NOT forget that a move to minority rule has happened
Next is the nomination to the Supreme Court.
Unless the President puts up some squishy moderate, it will be the "Extraordinary Circumstance" that will trigger the next Filibuster.
And the Republican Moderates will cave again. Once on kisses the boot once, it is easier to do it again. And again.
We do not need another David Souter on the Supreme Court. This whole fight was about making it possible for the President to nominate and the Senate to confirm a principled conservative to the Supreme Court. Now that is impossible.
Mission Not Accomplished.
Well gee wiz. The President gets three judges. Big whoop. Why doesnt he get ALL OF THEM!
No excuse for this. Some of the GOP spinmeisters are trying to paint this as a victory to try to placate the base. But we're not buying it.
You are right Josh, there is some major BS going on here. I can't figure it either. The only this makes sense is if the pubbies want to preserve the fillibuster for their own use at some future time when they are in the minority. But, if that's the case, then I don't see what all the hoopla has been about.
I basically agree. I think in the end this will work out in our favor. However, I cannot -- simply cannot -- conceive of a scenario that will outrage the Moderate Republicans and make them turn their backs on their Democrat masters.
Oh well.. too late.
Last night I called McCain's office and left a message
%^$#$* you, you ^%$%*ing %$#$* spineless @#$%^ %^&*ing piece of ^&%$%& scum.
My understanding is , "No, we cannot". But even if that is wrong, it took the Rep leadership 2 effing years of threatening to get to this point. They'll delay it again becuase they are gutless wonders. They lack the testicular fortitude and this agreement is proof positive of that. They agreed to it. They put these RINOs in charge of the negotiations knowing they'd make a deal, and knowing they'd sell out the party in the process.
The GOP will not get another Dime out of me.
And thank GOD a VOTE aint right around the corner either else they wouldn't get that out of me either.
I'm trying really hard here. Honest!
