I don't understand what the hell is going on here.
The Dems promised to only filibuster in EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES.
But they allow the 3 judges they considered the most extremee, Brown, Owen and Prior..
So are they going to filibuster Saad and Myers???
Someone explain this to me??
You are right Josh, there is some major BS going on here. I can't figure it either. The only this makes sense is if the pubbies want to preserve the fillibuster for their own use at some future time when they are in the minority. But, if that's the case, then I don't see what all the hoopla has been about.
There never was a filibuster to begin with.
Only threat of one.
Puzzy arse Reps dont wanna miss their blue plate specials.
"The Dems promised to only filibuster in EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES. "
Yes. And WHAT, pary, constitues "EXTREME" to the likes of Reid, Schumer, Clinton et al???
McCain and his bunch are traitors and idiots - or we are the idiots if we think this is going to help conservative judges get appointed.
You can't put this to a logic test. The Democrats caved big time, and their Rino friends let them put on a face saving show.
We conservatives are pissed becasue we wanted wholesale, unmistakable, unambiguous Democrat humiliation, and McCain didn't let us get it.
We just have to make sure that his political ambitions get him nowhere.
Ditto other spineless wimps.
But, bottom line is that we get our judges. We can humiliate the Democrats later when we celebrate victorious vote after victorious vote.
Rule 1 of Liberalism: Facts, logic, and consistency are irrelevant.
The Republicans got what they wanted, the Dems saved face and have the chance to act like cry babies again later if they get bored with doing real work.
But who gets to determine what are Extreme Circumstances? The Rats, that's who. Pubbies get played again.
This is a great point.
William Pryor is probably the most "extreme" judge the Dims could imagine.
Pryor is the nominee who, in his confirmation hearings before the judiciary committee, called Roe v. Wade "the worst abomination in the history of Constitutional law" !
Pryor is that outfront and in-your-face.
If the Dims are "letting" Pryor through without a filibuster, it's going to be difficult for them to justify filibustering any other pro-life nominee.
This proves that the Dims blinked.
The way that I understood it a few days ago, was that the Rats are going to filibuster the guy whose FBI file Reid mentioned, to prove that they are really justified in using the filibuster, then hold off on using it again, until the Supreme Court nominees come up.
