I'll bet that they cheered after 9-11 as well.

Oh, wait! I don't have to make that bet: they DID.

"I hope Hitlery wins so the inevitable Second Civil War starts."<

I've often felt that the cultural, political situation was coming to a boil. What sort of civil war do think will ensue? Will it actually be one armed camp against another, trying to take over and control states and territory? Or will it be just an outright nasty political affair with just the political party true believers going at each other in the streets?

How so that the Dims caved.? AsI understand it,they retained their right to filibuster any nominees they think are extremist,in the future ,[whatever that means], while we gave up our right to invoke the nuclear option through 2007.Please tell me how they caved on anything, and if you mean these 3 judges get through. HOW DARE WE THROW OVER THE REST. This is a terrible ''deal''!

IMHO there is no such thing as a wasted vote. People too often forget that the republican party was brought to the forefront of american politics in an attempt to overthrow the whig party in the 1850's i believe. Yeah they lost their first few elections, but in due time things changed. I've noticed that there are certain people on the FR that automatically label an individual as a tinfoil hatter for throwing support to the constitutional party or libertarian party, and it only makes me realize the scope of their mental capacity; only being able to reiterate what the party rhetoric is. Not me. Not anymore. My heart told me vote Petrouka last fall but I held out some false hope that the Republican party would do what they have been asked to do. We can all clearly see that they are as spineless as they were in the 90's, only with a majority. The only way i see things changing for the better in this country is a 3rd party.

He was one of the impeachment managers from the House and seemed to be very gung-ho.

What happened?

I'm done with the Republican Party.

I hope Hitlery wins so the inevitable Second Civil War starts.

Our Nation is done; time to rebuild from the ashes.

That would be the end of us. No way am I voting for Hillary!

The Virgina Warnerwith presidential asperations is the governor - a Democrat. This guy has no such asperations. though McCain seems to (good luck with that, John!)

Thanks for the post.
By the way, may I take this opportunity for an "I told you so"?
I mentioned on several threads recently that Arlen Specter would have no part in this treason. Don't get me wrong - - I am not a big Arlen fan, but I have known him to (usually) be there when the chips are on the table. Plus, he owes Bush, big time, for his last primary victory against Pat Toomey.

Well, I am done with fake conservatives like all the Senate Republicans.

They go spineless on borders, they go spineless on Schiavo, they go spineless on judges.

They pretty much have handed the next Presidency to Hitlery, if she wants it. After all, there is no real man (or woman) left in the Republican party to run in '08 and if there was, they are badly overshadowed by the cowardly Republicans in the Senate, like McCain. He may have been a hero once, but now he is just another coward looking for face time on TV.

Prediction: Republicans lose at least 3 seats in the Senate and 20 seats in the house, along with the Presidency. True conservatives are disgusted with them. They just do NOT know how to play hardball, even when they are in charge. I had a sliver of hope they would grow a set, but my experience told me that would not happen with the current crop of girlie men in the Republican Senate.

Pitiful!

I was close w/ illegal immigration, too. The totally limp-wristed response when dealing w/ the rats is really what has me po'ed - not so much the judges themselves.

My point exactly.

If there is so little difference between the two Parties, why should I care who gets into office?

The best hope we have now, as a Nation, is that someone totally objectionable gets into the Presidency. That will precipitate the overthrow of the current ruling class, and then we might get this country back on an even keel.

I've often felt that the cultural, political situation was coming to a boil.

The evidence is clear and irrefutable. This Nation is overly polarized between the people that want government to control every aspect of life; the cradle-to-grave nanny-staters and the take-a-punk-to-lunch bunch on one side, and the true Patriots that want as much freedom as is possible in a functional society on the other.

I think the form it will take depends on the reactions by the federal government. It will initially start as a violent action between the rabid communists and fringe-right groups. I predict the FedGov will then crack down hard, trampling all over everyone's civil rights, thus leading to a generalized war.

Our political ruling class had best remember the lessons of our history: you can only shove an American so far before they shove back - often to deadly effect.

AsI understand it,they retained their right to filibuster any nominees they think are extremist,in the future ,[whatever that means], while we gave up our right to invoke the nuclear option through 2007.

I am still digesting all of this, but I am starting to wonder if the rats got themselves caught in a trap. If the rats arbitrarily claim "extraordinary circumstances" against a qualified nominee simply because that nominee is conservative, then all it takes is for two of the RINOs who signed onto this deal to jump up and cry "foul". This deal may actually offer the RINOs cover for when push finally comes to shove!

The "outraged" Senators will say, "We thought we had a deal with the Democrats but they have broken their end of the bargain. They have stabbed us in the back, and we now have no choice but to exercise our Constitutional option to change the filibuster rule." So even while most of Bush's best nominees get confirmed without a filibuster, the Republicans keep their finger on the button. In essence, this "deal" has ensured that when the time comes to "go nuclear", the vote will be there in spades.

Game, set, match.

Sheesh.... am I spinning myself into the ground now....?
