In their quest for bad news to blame on Bush, The MSM was all over the price of crude when when it was going up.
Now that is is going down they are silent, so I am taking up the slack.
The price broke below $48 yesterday, and below $47 today.
Looks like the beginning of a trend, to me.

CNBC is on death watch whenever they are forced to report this.

LOL!
Where are all the Buchanan Brigadiers who were saying $100 a barrel by summer?
And where is that moron from Goldman Sachs who was predicting $107?

"And where is that moron from Goldman Sachs who was predicting $107?" I'm willing to bet that he's making a killing selling short. His job was to tout oil, making people think there was easy money to be had. He might not be the moron here. Just a theory though.

Great news! Maybe I'll buy that SUV after all.

I'm willing to bet that he's making a killing selling short. If that is true, he would be looking at 10 years in federal prison, minimum, and a lifetime ban from the securities industry.
If bernie Ebbers couldn't get away with securities fraud, this guy won't either.
Especially when he can help Eliot Spitzer make headlines in NY.

Saw a station here in Florida selling unleaded for $2.03/gal. Won't be long before it's back below $2.00/gal.

For the benefit of the "glass-is-half-empty" crowd, it is false to say that gasoline prices never fall when crude oil prices fall, as the following graph illustrates:

He can always claim that he was acting on the information he had at the time, and of course, he can remind people that the market has "risk," and that a prudent trader should always have his trades covered.

The guy from GS is no doubt closing out his short positions while he may.
Someone ought to right abook about this sort of nonsense. One that constasts their words with their insitutions' trading.
Just absurd. One would be better off discussing the economy with a bartender.

Wal-Mart here in the DFW area had it for 1.99 -- a little further out it can be had for 1.94.

No, he is an
analys;, it is his "informed opinions." There is nothing illegal about this, and in fact it is a primary motivation of all of the so call "financial experts" that you see on the tube. The whole lot of them could not manage 3 gas stations simultaneously.
Such is our commercial life these days.

There are even some "Peak Oil" loonies here at FR who have been either silent or writing something to the effect of "it's only the calm before the storm" ... yeah, right. It's indeed the calm before the storm of loathing amongst all the nitwit speculators! LOL ...
