I wish they could just plunk Cheney down in the "presidents" chair until this is finished---

it would make some senators pretty nervous, I bet!

I had almost this same discussion with a Graham staffer in January; I told him flat out that they need to understand that MOST of us are what you would call "Bush Republicans" and that stabbing Bush in the back was NOT going to win them any popularity votes because we all felt like we had been robbed in 2000 of a "real" 4 year term for Bush and, now that he won so big in 2004, we DEMANDED that they support him for four years so he can get his agenda through.

I hope you, and many others, had this discussion again with some staffers today. If not today, we must all do it tomorrow.

This is the time.

Democrats Will Not Be Silenced; We Will Not Be Intimidated by the Republicans' Arrogant Power Plays

Should read:

"Republicans Will Not Be Silenced; We Will Not Be Intimidated by the Democrat's' Arrogant Power Plays"

Mark's a Freeper, a member of the conservative base and dead on. RINO's think you can pull this off? Who is going to vote for you? the press Core? Moveon.org? hahahah. Get real.

NOTHING aside from the WOT is next to this issue. You remember daschle? We'll do that to you. Having an "R" by your name means absolutely nothing to us. This is about the Constitution.

"He will be the one to safeguard us from these exremists who think the Constitution means what it says and that it should be interpreted in an originalist context."

Yep, I believe you are spot on. To keep our hope up, perhaps God has other plans for him. Remember Sen. Baucus's ancedote, the slave whispering in the ear of the Roman, "Remember, you are mortal".

Graham has never gotten over his devotion to McCain. SC Reps. are not pleased.

sorry: that "whip count" "compromise" is NOT acceptable.

I'm confident that Owen has more than 50 who would vote to confirm. THe only reason she has less than 60 is becuase the DEMs have dug in so far they need to save face.

RINOS and "mavericks" and when they are up for reelection next:

2006:
Snowe - Maine
Chaffee - RI
Lott - Miss

2008:
Warner - VA
Collins - Maine
Graham - SC
Hagel - NE

2010:
McCain - La la land

Most all the Dems on the floor today are 2008 or 2010

STRONG rumours that the "centrists" will knock out 30% of the nominees, in exchange for confirming the rest. Republicans caving. Specter involved, of course.

Wow. I am just blown away by the Looking Glass politics being played.

instead, the moderate Dems ought to be talking to their leadership and telling them "drop this idea". the rules change and the political fight over this isn't worth it.

this by the way, is what Brit Hume is predicting will happen, for what its worth.

It doesnt do any good for me to speak with my Senators since they are both such lefties, but ...

Call them anyway. If I can call Shoomer's and Hitlery's office, you can call your lefties.

Call some of your neighboring red state senators, too.

I'm with you, Howlin. I don't "misunderestimate" the President's role in, among other things, the historical gains in the Senate. Some seem to believe that the money and grassroots organization that had many like me out walking neighborhoods, manning phone banks, making contributions, etc. will survive their disloyalty. It won't.

in hindsight, I think the GOP could have rejected the use of cloture on nominees when Dashle was leader.

However, that was a 51-48-1 Senate. Now we have a 55-44-1 Senate.
